This is what I'm hoping for too. Instead of pollen insane amounts of corrupt liberal Chicago dust falls on my car. After just 4hours parking at work on Monday the weekend wash is totaled. Lord help me if I ever accidentally leave the window cracked. The interior of the car will look like it got antique'd.

Hahaha. Liberal dust.

I have a garage at home and my office building has a garage. Dust still finds its way, but if it doesn't rain then a weekend wash can last me 5 days or so before the dust bothers me again. And of course, everyone I know thinks I'm nuts. My car, at any given time, is a showroom gem compared to my wife's or most of my friends.

Side note - I take for granted how comfortable our cars are. Even with my "low rent" Dakota leather (just kidding!). I rode in a mix of Lexus GX SUVs and a Range Rover Velar when my car was at the shop over night. The Range rides bad, in my opinion. The Lexus is nice but still way tougher than the old RX. I got in mine after a day without it and it rides like a damn dream.

Cermaic coating makes a huge difference in washing and drying. The water and soap just beads off while you wash.

So, not much drying is needed. Now I do have a leaf blower, but sometimes I wash my car at 6 am, and using a leaf blower to dry the whole car that early doesn't sound smart.

So, I just use microfiber towels. After, I just spray some quick detailer so there are no watermarks.

I'm more of an evening washer, so the leaf blower is my plan. I've used it some without ceramic and it just takes forever. But it works. If the results of the ceramic are as advertised and the drying experience lives up to y'all's reviews, then I may step up and get a cordless blower to make it even easier.

There's a possibility that I may tear down and rebuild my garage in the future. Not for the garage but there are some things we'd like to do that would be easiest if we just tore down that part of the house and rebuilt it. If that happens, I'm going to build the new garage with a drain in the middle. My dream is to be able to detail and wash the car (and the dogs!) in the comfort of the garage. We will see…

As far as drying towels go, I started with a waffle weave drying towel from chemical guys. It is okay, but I didn't love it. Didn't seem soft enough. I've switched to a Gauntlet drying towel from The Rag Company. I love it. I'd highly recommend it if you're towel drying. Soft and holds a lot of water.

PLEASE, PLEASE don't use those. I know most of you know I am over the top on detailing, but you are swirling your car with those.

Korean Micro Fiber is the ONLY way to go:

I am a little over the top, but I have seen those at Costco, they are cheap and you get a lot, but they are abrasive and nothing like what I just linked you to. Trust me, you can wash the Korean and they stay like new. You can not imagine how plush and soft. They are also edgeless. The Costco ones have edges and those really scratch. When I say scratch I mean micro scratch or swirls.

I'm still early in trial/error. But so far, I like their yellow edge less interior towels, I like the gauntlet if I'm going to towel dry anything, and I like the blue "dry me a river" towels for door jambs and any spot touch ups with Adams waterless wash (different than rinseless wash) or a detail spray.

All good, we all have our methods. I am going to do my best after the ceramic to be as touchless as possible. I am going to try my best to not Opti-Clean (waterless wash) too often. Just got a lecture from my detailer at a cars and coffee a few weeks ago. As we stand and watch everyone taking there towels out and using detail spray, he is mumbling "scratch, scratch, scratch" with every wipe. "You either wash it, or you don't". As great as Opti-Clean is as a lubricant to avoid rubbing sediment into the car while wiping it off, I do think I have added more spider webs than it had a year ago. I am looking forward to the multi-step paint correction more than the ceramic.

I am pretty much of the "wash it or don't" school just out of fear to scratch something. I've really given up the detail spray during drying because I feel it's not worth the potential downside (scratches or overspray causing visible residue).

I really do like the Adams Waterless Wash for bug splatter or bird crap in between washes or during washes. It used to be a blue liquid but seems to now be reformulated and is purple. I do not use it for dust. Only to remove large bug splatter or bird crap. Makes life easy during an actual wash. Just spray the area down and let it sit, then when you wash that panel the dried bugs or crap will come off clean without scrubbing. I will also use it to lightly remove random water spots/streams after drying (like below the fuel door). Lastly, I will use it to clean door jambs. Spray down and wipe with a Dry Me a River towel.

You are using it exactly how it's supposed to be used, for spot cleaning. I admittedly can get over zealous with it.

I've been using a California Duster since the mid 1990's for dust and pollen. The one I have and still use is probably 15 years old. The more you use it, the better it gets.
Dont use on a hot surface though. The wax will bleed out onto the paint.

Dont use on a hot surface though. The wax will bleed out onto the paint.

When you get a chance and if your so inclined, take a picture of your paint in a dark garage with only a flash light shining on the panel.
