Beige substance coming out of sides of coolant tank
I own a 2019 BMW 540i. I received a low coolant warning, so bought some BMW coolant and prepared to top off the tank. When I popped the hood I found a beige mud/clay/liquid substance that had come out of the edges of the coolant tank. See the attached photo. Anyone have any clue what this is?

It may be possible the car doesn't not have BMW Coolant in it. But either way, coolant will commonly turn a white colour when it dries, especially if it is a slow leak. Looks like the expansion tank is leaking from that area in the centre "ridge" in the mould, above the seam.

That is dried up crystalized coolant.
Hopefully you're under warranty. Your coolant tank is toast and needs to be replaced.
