How quickly can (UK) dealer handover a car?

My car arrived at the dealer today. I found out about via Genius chat, rang the dealership and they're closed. My contact is off today so he won't even know its there until tomorrow.

Now I have to wait until the morning just to find out when I can collect it, which seems like a lifetime from now (funny, considering I've waited 6 weeks already).

How quickly can the dealer handover the car to me? Its been PDI'd and plates fitted at the BMW centre in Southampton, I'm not having any paint protection or dealer fitted options. So what is left for the dealer to do, and how long is the actual handover process? (I really don't need a "this is how you put the headlights, this how the sat nav works" - i've read the online manual about 4 times already!)

I'm really hoping I can collect it tomorrow - what are the realistic chances of that?

They usually 'prepare the car'. What they do exactly I do not know.

I see they arrive with plastic film that needs to be removed. I guess they have to clean off the residue.

if its any help, My car arrived on a Friday afternoon and was ready for me on the Saturday morning at 10. Although they knew I was coming in at 10 to pick it up!(they had arranged that and the car was late arriving)

Collection is arranged for first thing Friday morning - they couldn't do Thursday at all apparently. Not wholly inconvenient but tomorrow would have been easier. Oh well, whats another day at this point eh?

I was told around by my local dealer that if I informed them before 10am I could have it at any time I wanted the next day.

I bet you're like a kid at Christmas?

Currently in a Travelodge down the road from the dealership. It was over 3 hours to get here and that was travelling in the evening, very glad I didn't try to come down tomorrow or I wouldn't be getting home till 7pm! Now I can get the car first thing and set off early-ish to get back after lunch time (hopefully).

Many pics will be taken once I can tear myself out of the driving seat!
