It's interesting to see how many people get upset at BMW for pumping out SUV's but pretty much everyone does it. It's been a while since the car industry is moving towards this direction.

Looks like the dream is dead, boys.

Mazda is a much smaller and less profitable brand overall, they sell as many cars as Toyota sells Camry's. To them selling vehicles like the CX-30 and CX-5 are keeping them alive and a necessity so it makes sense that they are focusing on this route.

Just need to look at the Genesis/Kia brand as an example of how well the non-german 6 cyl RWD platforms are selling. It's definitely a niche that doesn't make financial sense to develop from scratch anymore.

Yea but I'd make the same argument that in comparison to say VAG Group, BMW is a much smaller company too.

Regardless of where you look, SUV's are everywhere now. Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, the usual German suspects.... I'm not saying they don't have their place in the porfolio, but it's a shame to see so many focusing on that rather than analogue cars.

Mazda has to focus on where the money is and that's CUV and SUV. The Mazda 3 is a good car but current generation sales have nosedived. I personally think this is the right call as I think the market for a car like the Mazda 6 is shrinking more every year and I think it would have bombed even it if had good word of mouth.

Damn this sucks, when the rumors first came about a few years ago for an NA inline 6, rwd 6MT with around 350hp I was all in on it being my forever daily. Looks like I’m down to the new Nissan Z and next gen Lexus RC.

It doesn't sound like it's totally dead, just that they want to get the SUV's out first. Makes sense, but maybe not from the timeline everyone was expecting.

IMHO Ford made the right call and stopped making cars other than the stang. As soon as upper middle class women decide something is uncool, it's dead, and sedans are dead.

Thanks god for the Germans...I'm sure I'll be long gone before they hang up their sedan lineups.
