I need your guys opinion on fitment of this Diffuser on M550i

This Carbon Fiber Diffuser is really cool but im not sure how it will fit my m550i

https://bimmerplug.com/products/3d-s...5-g30-5-series

This is what itll fit
2018-2020 BMW F90 M5 & M5 Competition Sedan (Pre-LCI).
2021-Present BMW F90 M5 & M5 Competition Sedan (LCI).
2017-2019 BMW G30 / G38 5 Series Sedan (Pre-LCI).
2020-Present BMW G30 / G38 5 Series Sedan (LCI).

I always thought F90 M5 diffuser fitment was different from G30 5 Series?
When you chose the options it just lets you choose PRE LCI or LCI and then either dry or wet carbon. So the PRE LCI one can fit PRE LCI F90 M5 or PRE LCI M550i and the LCI version can fit both LCI F90 M5 or LCI M550i? Can it really fit both M5 and M550i?

I have a 2020 m550i but according to this fitment information from the page it says 2020 is LCI. I thought LCI is 2021+ ?

If i were to get this, id chose LCI since i have a 2020?

Right now im trying to decide between this or a CF diffuser from RW Carbon. i think this one looks the best. Id probably leave off the rear splitters.

Super confused on this.

A 2020 M550i is the Pre LCI but I would email the company to be 100% clear. This way if you do order the wrong part off the companies recommendations you have that in writing on the email.

I wanna get it but i dont wanna deal with the headache of sending one back if it doesnt fit etc. Its expensive as hell too. 1549 for the Wet Carbon LCI. Which i dont even know if im suppose to choose that one lol. Gonna email them and see what they say.

You have a pre-LCI, but Lci vs non LCI isn’t the main issue here, it’s that the m550’d exhaust tips are the widest of any 5 series, the m5 included. You should specifically ask them if it works on an m550. Barring that, ask them how wide the exhaust openings are at their widest. If it’s less than 10.5”, it won’t fit. I can tell you from the pics I’m 90% certain it won’t though. It’s a common design (they’re all made in China and rebranded/resold by multiple distributors) and visually the gap is not wide enough. There’s only one design of aftermarket diffuser that fits on the m550 with no modifications, and it’s advertised clearly as being for the m550.

I will be installing a Remus catback at the same time as whichever diffuser I get so Stock exhaust fitment doesn’t matter to me. I just want this diffuser to fit in general and the exhaust openings look like the Remus exhaust tips won’t be a problem. I prefer this one from bimmerplug over the rw carbon one. I got an email back saying this diffuser will fit my m550i. I sent them vin and everything. They didn’t really clarify if I should choose LCI or PRE LCI. According to their page it says I need to choose LCI for my 2020. Which is confusing

As long as you have 10” width in the MIDDLE section of the opening you’re good to go. Titanium carbon angled Remus tips require 10”, anything less will not fit even if it’s angled in on one side like the M5 “style” diffusers are. To date the only 2 diffusers I know of that fit the Remus tips are the stock one and the one that myself and Joe have, both gloss.
From the looks of it this one looks like it will fit the Remus tips but I’d reach out to them and simply ask if they can:
1. Confirm pre LCI M550 fitment
2. If they can give you the opening dimensions

Attached are pics of the M5 style diffuser that will not fit as you can see my the measurement and they way it angles on the outside opening. Bottom measures 10”, but it’s the middle that matters.

I got the stainless steel tips and im gonna ceramic coat them black. The stainless has a smaller diameter than the carbon titanium i think i remember you telling me?

The RW carbon one can fit the stock exhaust tips with a small modification so maybe its just best to go with the RW carbon diffuser. It should be no problem with the Stainless Remus Tips. Im worried about this Bimmerplug one being a headache lol. The information on fitment is confusing.

Here is the RW carbon im interested in.

Ah yes I forgot sorry, yes smaller diameter and you’ll definitely be fine then with the width of that diffuser. It’s Daniel that’s getting Carbon tips with his Remus.

Are you talking about the bimmerplug one or the RW? The RW one might be the way to go because the bimmerplug one is too confusing in terms of the pre LCI and LCI.

In terms of tip fitment both to me look like they will work with those tips without any issues.

Both diffusers are nice but that bimmerplug m5 style one is more appealing to me. It also almost twice as much in price though which sucks. The RW one is only $770 vs the bimmerplug which is $1549 but it has those rear splitters. The Remus quad 3 inch diameter tips would leave too much open space I think. So if I got this I’d leave those rear splitters off

Bimmerplug said it’ll fit mine when i provided the vin and pictures. Just waiting on them to confirm the pre LCI or LCI because I’m paranoid it’s like a typo on their page lol.

For the price of the bimmerplug one I could just get the RW CF diffuser and RE CF front lip/splitters.

Decisions decisions. On another note.. I dusted an sti at a stoplight this morning lol. It was early in the morning road was clear. I can only imagine how worse it would’ve been with a tune

I like the bummer plug one more too. Just that price.. that’s subjective though. How about the RW CS style?

I dont like the middle part of it. Too Squigly haha. I like the RW 3D style one though because itll go nice with some CF side skirts. It reminds me of the OEM M performance but i dont like that id have to pair it with the GREY stock diffuser. If i painted the stock diffuser black then it would look cool.

The BimmerPlug fitment information has to be wrong on my first post. Because 2021+ M550i stock diffuser looks different. And the 2017 to 2020 M550i diffusers are all the same right? atleast it looks like it. If i go with the bimmer Plug i will just full send it and chose PRE LCI even though they say 2020 is LCI.

At least pre-LCI you have a few options with RW Carbon that look decent.

My LCI I can’t find anything appealing.

I went with RW Carbon but I am not a huge fan of the style. Too squared and blocky for my liking. I just wanted real CF and it was the only option I know will fit.

Didn’t realize you’re switching the exhaust tips. 2020 is not LCI. Their info is definitely wrong. 2017-2020 are all the same , 21-23 are all the same.

You can find a very similar looking one on eBay, or from any number of parts deals for a fraction of the cost of this. I’ve seen some CF diffusers for $500-800 and there’s Chinese ones on eBay that are like $160, granted prob not same quality but you could literally replace it once a year for 20 years for the price of this one, just saying. I’m not a “do it as cheap as possible” kind of guy at all but I am practical. And for this money you could get a CF hood, set of performance tires, axel back exhaust, lots of other mods you could do rather than dumping ~2500 (shipped) into a piece of plastic that you’ll rarely see (while driving).

This looks sick no question but make sure you do your due diligence. There’s alot of aftermarket parts out there at all sorts of diff prices.

I’ve also had the hardest time ever trying to contact bimmerplug. Tried to call, it rings forget, tried to email … “email doesn’t exist”. I’m more than happy to drop good money when the customer service is equivalent to the price of the item you’re buying. I just dropped 4k+ on exhaust (x-ph) and Cf spoiler (Rw carbon) and both of them answered all my questions and provided excellent customer service. If I have a hard time reaching a company before I even made the purchase, to me, that’s a huge red flag!

My 2 cents that nobody asked for
