Does preconditioning use the electric battery?

I went to bed with a full charge. This morning I came out to half a charge.

All I can think of is they I set the preconditioning to turn on an hour before I leave. I thought I read someplace that it turns on for 20 minutes then turns off.

I turned it on a second time 10 minutes before leaving using the app.

Anyone know if it uses the car battery or the high voltage battery?

Oh, I should say that I did not have the car plugged in this time.

Yes. Using the HVAC without the car running is using the hybrid batteries. That is one of the best feature for me living in Arizona. I can use the phone app to turn on the AC after the car has been sitting in the sun for hours in the hot summer.

So you are using the hybrid batteries when you precondition.

For whatever it is worth, I garage my car and have never felt the need to precondition. I usually plug it in after 8 PM and it is fully charged by 10 (a full charge from empty to full seems to take me 115 minutes) but I just leave it plugged in until I am ready to use the car.

If I did feel a need to precondition, I assume (but don't know) that by leaving it plugged in I should still have a full charge when I am ready to leave.
