Has anybody ordered the 530e I performance model?

What is the start of production date?

Has anyone given it a test drive?

I had a short 30 minute drive. Felt relly quick (as least coming from a 520d), and the standard suspension felt more firm and not as floaty as the F10 standard suspension.

It was bluestone with m sport and sport seats. Great seats btw.
The trunk space was reduced quite a bit compared to the normal trunk.

Would love to see pics of the 530e trunk space.

Ordered one after test driving G30 520d and 330e. Should get mine in early June.

Im just ordering a 530e se via work. I had one for 2 day test drive and was smitten. So smooth and relaxing on electric when in the city or traffic jams. With a decent amount of pace when the engine kicks in seamlessly.

drove the non-M Sport 530e and 530i with 18" RFT back to back. Both need to be in "sport" mode to avoid throttle tip-in lag. The e was much better over Houston's torture track, Richmond Ave. Couldn't tell when the car transitioned from electric to gas on the freeway.

hi AFA

would just like to ask, what happens when driving a long distance? Does the electric batteries drain right down and your just left with a 180bhp petrol engine running? or does it always run with both so you always have the 250bhp on tap?

cheers

In "Auto eDrive" mode it is constantly charging and using the battery as it needs it. If you drive it in "Max eDrive" it only uses the battery unless you floor the pedal and then the petrol engine kicks in. When the battery runs out it will switch to "Auto eDrive". There is a third mode called "Battery Control" that allows you to set how much charge you want the battery to keep, from 30% to 100%. In that mode the petrol engine works until the driver-set percentage is reached and then after that it will start working like the Auto eDrive mode. Unless the windows are open and one listens carefully for the motor, it is hard to tell when you are driving in electric or petrol mode and the switching between the two is very smooth. Of course there is a widget that you can run in the central split screen that shows where the power is coming from. It will show a blue battery in electric mode, an orange engine in petrol mode, and both when both are used. Hope this is helpful.

Works! Thanks! Practicality-wise it seems okey.

I guess that what you see under that "false floor lid" is the actual trunk floor in any other model.

yes very helpful, thanks.
so if running in auto edrive mode are you ever just driving a 180bhp petrol engine car (bit gutless) or are you effectively always driving a 250bhp car?
does that make sense?

As I understand it, you are driving a 250 bhp car. The electric motor kicks in whenever needed and because of its' instant torque has better acceleration when you go for it. In steady state cruising above some set speed (which is about 45 mph, I think), it's only the gas motor and the electric part is acting like a hybrid ie: recharging on throttle lifts and braking. Hence, the very high MPG rating.

Yeah I've only driven 330e but it definitely feels a way lot quicker than 320i. Also the throttle response feels more like you are driving a diesel than petrol, because of the torque.

Basically when you have the car in auto, everytime you accelerate the electricity kicks in and gives it the extra horse power push. But theres also more torque than you would have with 30i and a faster throttle response, since you dont need to gear shift or rev out. Electric horses are instant.

I've ordered a 530e M Sport without actually driving one (not available to test drive at dealer). They loaned me a 520d and that was good enough.
