What are few must items to code with Bimmercode

Just ordered UniCarScan from UK, my Vpack is not compatible with G series. So while I wait to receive the adapter what are few must items to code in 2019 G series.

You don't have much options to code for G30 because it's still new. the only thing I find useful to code right now is turn off auto start stop and active video in motion.

I tried coding my 18' M550i yesterday and for some reason the Alpina display doesn't come up. My car has almost every option short of DHP. Did the 18's have a different cluster? Is it my veepak/BimmerCode? I also wasn't able to turn the ASS feature off, but only have it memory to last setting. I don't like it but my wife swears it saves her mpg when she's stuck in traffic.

I think it's veepak. Was having similar issue and was not getting many options. I ordered a new one today.

I believe it's because 17-19 model is not a full screen cluster display. So it's not possible. ASS I have it memory last setting too so not to make it confuse you.

I think it depends on model. Some configurations got display without any plastic (silver circles on display) from July 18. At least I have full LCD.

The Bimmercode folks said that the G30 is a bit more restrictive on what you can code than some models. I did three simple things: Got rid of the legal warning that pops up from time to time on the screen, programmed the Auto Start/Stop (the aptly names ASS) to remember the last setting (if it was off when you turned the engine off, it will be off when you start again), and I also set the car driving mode default to Sport rather than comfort. I wanted to change the default distance setting on the cruise control but it is not possible on the G30 540. --Bob

E-Sys will allow you to code more than that.
- ACC default distance
- Ambient light

I have coded a lot of G30, F90, G14/G15, G05, G07, G01/G02.
All with E-Sys, so far been having a very good access to all of the modules.

What all can be done to ambient light with E-Sys? With BimmerCode it just gives you 3 or 4 additional colors you can pick from. One of them being red. I can't recall the other colors off the top of my head.

Any color that you want.
I don't know what are the BimmerCode's capability, I haven't play with it for a while.
You may be able to, but need to go to expert mode. Which, I've been reading that they are blocking it on some modules.

So I coded few things on my wife's 19, 540, and one of them was Alpina instrumental display. Told my buddy about it and he has a 20, M550, I guess it's with the new digital display like the new 3 series, and also wants to do the Alpina display. So just wondering if anyone else coded MY20 with this feature.

Be sure when coding the passenger ejector seat option that you make sure that the car is defined in the correct market, UK/Australia/SA versus North America. Don't want to eject yourself.

Seriously though, for me the must have coding options are:
-A.S.S.
-Disclaimer screen
-Digital speed in instrument cluster

The other stuff that I used to have to code are now iDrive options, which is nice.

I tried looking for it on my 2020 M550i. Not available for us to code.

2018 m550 must code list (for me):

-ASS coded to last used mode (off)
- Fake engine sound GONE
- various convenience things like trunk close using the door button, no delay on convenient close feature (windows/sunroof close when using the lock button on fob)
- Alpina gauge display (kind of cool for a change, but I don't love it)
- remove I drive startup warning messages
- interior ambient lighting... did I go overboard on the colors?!

Looks great! Did you choose those colors from the list they offer in BimmerCode or did you go into expert mode? Magenta on top and blue on bottom?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I used magenta on top and blue on the bottom and then turned off auto-dimming at night.

I was going to try a few other combos, but really liked the magenta / blue combo, so I'll leave it be for a while. I'm thinking about blue top and green bottom to match the alpina sport displays, but the magenta really pops.

These were straight off the regular BimmerCode menu, no expert mode for me.

Personally, I purchased bimmercode and was 'meh' with the results...especially considering the US $34 cost. Sure it's convenient and easy, but I felt the G30 options were extremely limited vs. what I've seen others do.

I get that the G30 is more restrictive, but the onus is on bimmercode to find a solution and deliver the goods for that price...or provide a LITE version for neutered cars.

I'm hoping future updates will add more capability, but not holding my breath. Anyone know how often they've been updating? Is there a known roadmap for G30?

I really want to have the ASS system remember the last switch setting from when I last shut down the car. How did you do it and where can I buy the equipment to do this. Can you include a screenshot of the correct menu also?
The BMW dealers used to do it but they don't anymore. At least my BMW dealer will not. Can you also turn the ASS off in the economy mode? On my car, if you are in the economy mode even if you have ASS selected to the off mode it automatically turns it on if you select economy mode. I have a US specification 2019 G30 540i sedan.

I had to download the Bimmercode full app ($29) and got the OBDLink MX+ OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner from Amazon (about $80). The Bimmercode website will indicate what OBD2 plug in is required or acceptable; there may be several options. The website also will show you what things you can code on your car. In looking at my app demo mode it looks like you go to Front Electronic Module, then Auto Start Stop function Memory, then check Active to get it to retain the same setting as when you shut down. You can see do that on the Bimmercode website. That may seem expensive for just coding one thing like ASS, but I feel it is useful to have an OBD2 ink that you can use on your iPhone for a number of things, like trouble codes, etc. I plan to recode a couple of things on my wife's 328 at some point. And I did hate the auto start stop. Hope that helps--Bob
