BMW G11 7-Series Wheels on G30 5-Series Fitment Question
Hello, a friend of mine is selling a set of genuine 21 inch BMW 7-Series wheels (Style 650M). The tire size I believe is 245-35 R21. My 2018 530e comes with 19 inch wheels with 245-40 R19 tires. I'm wondering if I can get away with installing the tire and rim combo without rubbing issues.
Here is an image of the wheels: Rolling Diameter Comparision: Please let me know if anyone has tried fitting 7-Series wheels on their 5-Series. The bolt pattern is the same, the offsets are within a reasonable measure. I did find some forum posts with G30 owners using G11 rim and tire combo, but the focus was on appearance more so the ride quality and potentiall rubbing issues. Thanks! |

I've read about people mounting 7 series wheels setup with 20" rims, but not with 21"
21" is not even an option for the G30, my opinion is not to do it. The ride comfort will be terrible even if it does not rub. Also depends on the road quality in your country. |

Given G30 owners are able to use G11's 20 inch wheel and tires, I reckon 21 inch will fit without rubbing issues. That said, I dont really want to install 21 inch wheels for the reason of ride comfort. Unfortunately 20 inch G30 or G11 wheels are rarely on sale. I'm thinking if I can use the tires currently on the 21 inch wheels, the ride comfort shouldnt be terrible considering g11 would have a similar ride feel, albeit g11 has air suspension while g30 doesnt (atleast not my example). Thoughts? |

I believe, at least in Europe, that the wheel tyre overall diameter is one of the specifications that is specified by the OEM, in the regulation data.
It means you would need to change the tire to one with lower aspect ratio to respect this overall diameter for which the car passed the regulation requirements: meaning lower tyre flange height. It would result in a very bad ride comfort. If you keep the tire as now, you might have very big troubles with authorities and insurance as you would drive a car that did not pass the regulation requirements. Not to mention about the speedometer to be reset, potientally the ABS ECU, and so on... |

My main concern was ride comfort, which you say will be poor and rubbing issue, which there shouldnt be any. |

In many countries in Europe, during the inspection if they notice you have wheels that are not recommended by the manufacturer, they will refuse to pass the inspection.
You will have no alternative but to put in factory wheels at least until you pass it. Given you are in Canada and the laws are different there, you can only have the concern of the ride comfort. You can try the wheels out, if your friend will borrow them to you, at least for a test and see how they feel. Best of luck |

These will fit without any issues. I have a similar setup. I had it on my 540i and now on my m550i.
