M550 slow shifts

My transmission has felt super lazy shifting in low gears at slower speeds/slower acceleration. Anyone else ever had this? I don’t know if I just haven’t noticed before or if it’s something with the computer adapting to some kind of driving habits. I know some do that but can’t remember if the transmission/computer in these cars adapt like that.

Can you elaborate more on "slow shifting"? What driving mode are you in? By slow, do you mean it's up-shifting at a higher RPM's than you remember? Kind of like winding out the gears before it shifts? Does it shift responsively in manual mode with the paddles or the shifter?

It feels and sounds like it’s winding a little more than I’m used to or would like it to. Comfort mode. When it shifts, it shifts. It just feels lazy getting there. But I’ve looked and the RPM isn’t really going that high. It almost feels like it’s getting ready to shift but it waits a second or two longer than I expect it to. It’s not stuck between gears. It does shift responsively in manual.

Normal driving in traffic it shifts like I expect it to. It’s more in parking lots and other really slow situations that I notice it. It could just be something I never paid attention to before and now I can’t unnotice it. It’s like the computer gets confused and doesn’t know if it needs to shift or if I’m about to slow down and it should stay in 1st (maybe 2nd, whichever it’s in when I’m idling/slowly navigating parking lots, etc.)

Used to happen to my 328i. But something similar happens to my M550i when I brake from high speed and then accelerate again in quick succession, wherein the transmission gets stuck for a second at high rpms before getting into the appropriate gear i.e. it doesn't keep up with the quick acc/braking changes. This happens in only this specific scenario, so I am not too concerned about it.

the more i drive the M340i and the M550i the more i am annoyed by how slow the throttle response is mainly, and how slow the upshifts are when my brain wants a lower gear. even in sport plus! (manual mode is ok but who drives an auto in manual mode!)

can i suggest you manually shift and see if it shifts as fast as you thought i should shift?
