20" wheel upgrade a few questions
Hi all
I'm looking for some advice please. I have a 2020 530d m sport with the standard 19" wheels. I'd like to upgrade to a set of 20" wheels. I am undecided as to what style, and may even go after market or reps. I've not done this before, so was hoping for a bit of wisdom. I have been searing the internet and the forum to try and peice together this info, but have not been able to. My main concern is around the TPMS. What would I need to do if I went to after market wheels or 669m reps? Will I need to buy new sensors? How do they fit? I am not sure how the system works. If I went for non runflats would I still need the TPMS? Would the system still work? Any advice from anyone who has done a similar upgrade would be much appreciated. Thanks Antony |

Hi Anthony, I've had my 2017 530d for 13 months now, it came with the black 19s on Pirelli P7 rft Thankfully I was able to get the 759i 20s off eBay on decent thread Eagle F1 rft and had a tyre fitter swap over the TPSM and fit spacers at the same time so the car was transformed! I got good money for the 19s with normal valves in them and the sensors linked to the idrive no problem the only downside is the ride on 20s and rft is pretty bad but next week I'll be getting a set of PS4S non rft so can't wait to see the improvements everyone talks about mine is bluestone so I think the 759 20s match it well |

I disagree about the ride, I have the 759s on my 530d and the ride is yes firm. But is it bone jarring no.
I do have the comfort seats, so maybe that is helping. The roads in he north of England are extremely poor, so it's not as if I am driving on Virgin tarmac. I have the OEM P-Zeros fitted that are a RFT. |

Interesting. Maybe the Pirelli are just that big more compliant. My neighbour took great joy in asking me why I have MOE tyres on a BMW! As an aside does your 530d have a slightly higher ride height on the passenger side than the drivers side? My left rear seems to have a bigger gap from the tyre to the arch than the right. I rang bmw to check if it had the m sport suspension deleted but it doesn't. |

Thanks for the response! I think I am getting the gist of it now. I have found some TPMS sensors on ebay for around £100 for the set. I just need to factor that into the cost of the upgrade if I don't find some wheels with them already on. I think the 5er looks so much better with 20" wheels. Since when did 19" wheels look small! |
