They told me they are still testing it and should be available from end of October.

Not yet, I'm waiting end of October to contact the reseller, since he gave me that date.

I also pinged them a couple of weeks ago and they said end of this month. I have my in-laws coming in December. If this isn’t out by then, I’m going to fall back to the android tablet method.

does this mean Apple Car play needs to be activated from BMW directly and not via 3rd party solutions for this to work, or does the car need to come prepared with Apple Car Play from factory and 3rd party enabled will allow this to work?

The problem with the product is it doesn't work with ID7/8, that's why we are waiting for the update.

Yes, I'm also wondering if that model is the one they were testing or not (which should have Android 11). In theory it should work with any BMW with support for CarPlay.

I'll get in touch with them by EOM.

they describe it as MMB 11, so is this the Android 11 version that's currently available for preorder?

looks like that's the new one up for pre-sale. says it can be updated to android 12.

This one doesn’t have hdmi.

Yes this one is "only" android 10 and doesn't have HDMI port for mirroring.

I hope this is a "start" of MMB boxes for BMW, and later we will have also a box with HDMI mirroring, so I will finally have a solution to watch Netflix, in sync, on both front screen and back screens (RSE). :-)

Confirmed: they should have a newer model coming up in 2023 with also the HDMI port for mirroring. The one on preorder right now it’s already a good solution, but without hdmi mirroring. I will wait for the ‘hdmi’ one.

Without hdmi, how’s one supposed to output to the rear screens?

And honestly, it doesn’t have that much of an advantage over an android phone that can already cast to the front screen via screen mirroring.
