E92 Headlights problem!

I have a headlights problem that BMW says they are not able to fix because I have modifications done to the headlights.

It all started out when one side of the low beam not lighting up so I thought I must have a blew bulb and so I bought a pair of D1s and the problem IMPROVED. I also changed the AE to Lux H8 which I am not so sure if it contributes to the problem.

But BMW now says my headlights (the whole unit) is ok and the light computer is fine. They just don't know why the lights don't work! The weirdness being sometimes both angel eyes light up but not the low beam and sometimes both low beams light up but only one angel eye!

I don't think putting a Proceed in there will cause such problem. I have been having this issue for over a year now.

Can anyone chime in on their experiences?

Garage List
I have MTec D1S in my 09 E92 + Lux H8v3 and have never had a problem

Sounds like the original problem started before you added the new bulbs.

Try putting factory bulbs back in - if you still have the problem, take it back to a different dealer that does not know the history of you changing out bulbs and see what they find.

Sometimes, if dealer knows you have modified anything - it's easier for them to just say it's your fault due to mods, rather than diagnose/fix the problem...

Thanks for your advice. You are correct that I started having the problem before changing any bulbs! But the fact is they took me $300 to tell me they don't know what the problem is! They have had my car for one whole week already.

I think I will take it to a 3rd party garage since BMW said the computers have no problems.

Then I guess I got a much better deal than you did.

They spent 6 working days to tell me that they don't know squat because I changed the bulb myself! And yesterday I couldn't take it anymore and told them to pack it up!

The point is that you can lose your whole warranty just by changing a bulb. As they say, their computer system is all networked so if you change the bulb and caused the lighting computer to blow then there maybe a chain reaction and you are fxxxed.......

By the way, do you mind telling me what exactly happened to your vehicle?
