Trade my 12.3" idrive Screen for 10.25"

Top of the morning,

The lease on my 2020 530e is coming to an end so I want to replace the 12.3" retrofit with the original 10.25" screen. I originally intended to buy the car off lease however I ordered a i7 in it's place. Here is the original post

I live in Calabasas, CA and i'm willing to meet up and do the swap for you. The screen is less than a year old and functions perfectly. I'm also selling my Bavsound for Harman/Kardon Stage One Speakers and Underseat 8 ohm Subwoofers. Those have less than a year of listening on them and 3 years of warranty left.

I have a 2017 so don't think the screen will swap, but might be interested in the Bavsound. Live in So AZ, but could drive to you if price was right.

Shame I based in UK otherwise would have done the swap for sure as have a spare mint 10.25 screen

My understanding is the 12.3” screen is only compatible with the MY2020 cars. The LCI MY2021 has it standard and the MY2018-2019 cars with iDrive 6 won’t fully utilize the screen as it doesn’t support the higher resolution. The resolution is identical on MY2020 and MY2021+ LCI cars with the 12.3” screen just being physically bigger.

Yes I am currently still on idrive 6 with everything running above. Once I complete the last step to fully be on idrive 7 I will be able to help

Hopefully guides get posted at some point. I imagine it isn’t too hard since the MY2020 cars are basically the iDrive 6 cars with the iDrive 7 Head Unit.

My car is a 2019 540i. Would it work for the screen transfer?
Also, I'm interested in your speakers. My car has a hifi sound system.

From what I hear, the ID6 requires some coding. I do know the coding values, I just never attempted it. Also the sound system has to be matched to a HK system as the under seat subs are 8ohm for HK cars and 4ohm for HIFI cars.

So, what you are saying is that it might work, but it needs to be coded to property work. If you are interested, we can try it and see if it works. We have nothing to lose. Now regarding the speakers, you are saying those might not work since my sound system has a lowered ohm and it doesn't match the HK system. Is that correct?
