Underseat Subwoofer Options?

Hi

Just picked up my 2019 530e and it has the HK system but feel it's lacking bass. I listen primarily to rock/hard rock, ACDC, Alter Bridge, Shinedown.

Seems there are a few options to replace the underseat subs but wonder if anyone has done it and what the results are with the stock amplifer.

These are what I've found so far -

bmGround Zero
Focal ISubBMW 8
Bavsound Ghost
Eton
Match
Vibe

Lots of options, but I'm only interested in ones that play well with the OEM amplifier.

Thanks

Andy

Interested in this as well - I have Bang & Olufsen sound profile loaded which makes a difference as well with the equaliser settings I have picked up from the forums. It gets rid of the fuzzy Logic 7 on HK as well. Probably worth a shot.

I just ordered the bavsound subs for my 540. I have the HiFi system in my car and I find the bass to be very lacking. I should hopefully have them installed by next week

I have a 2018 M550 I am and I also feel like the stereo is really good but lacks a lot of bass are there subwoofers under the seat and if you can replace them with something higher quality that sounds better let us know I'd be interested in that kind of upgrade if it's cost-effective

on the HK system does anyone know the underseat subwoofer wiring colours?

Im trying to tap into them from the boot where the amp is.
Would avoid needing to unscrew from seats and sub.

installing a sub and amp in the boot. My car doesnt have folding seats.
Ive read on a few forums that most of the bass wont make its way into the cabin because.

installing sub thats 300-400W RMS. will this be sufficient to compensate sound insulation of my sealed boot?

Did you also do the stage one?
Did it make a different with just the sub change ?

Bavsound

i had the same dilemma with my 2018 540 I that came with stock Hifi system. After dealing with both Bimmertech and Bavsound, i decided to go with Bavsound Ghost Subwoofers (they offered 10% discount, Bimmertech didn't). I am fairly happy with the result. Bavsound subwoofers provide punchier bass than stock and improved the overall sound quality. However, the bass seems to come alive at volume 65% or higher.

I have my bavsound speakers in (stage one)
Will be installing next week. I am not planning to play it loud. Will see if subs are needed after that

Wonder if there will be any HK subs for sale soon for a good price? Then I´ll be interested

I have the base hifi and did the Babsound stage 1, subwoofers, and revenant amp. It’s ok....I don’t think it’s a, “wow what an upgrade” type of feel but definitely better than stock. Since the ghost subwoofers seem to be the same for both the hifi and the HK system, I don’t think you’ll get the bass that you’re looking for. Mind you, the revenant amp puts out 1300 watts so plenty of power is feeding the subs in my car. Still not enough and still much softer than the stock HK that came in my old mercedes e class.

I have the base hi-fi and I added the Match 7BMW amp yesterday. Night and day difference. I'm debating if I need to even change out the stock speakers since they sound fine to me now that they are amped.

I also am on the fence about a trunk mounted sub that I was convinced I would need to add, since the underseat subs are doing a pretty good job of delivering the bass that I like.

I just got the stage one, it's not night and day , but there is a quite a difference. Speakers still need to be broken into seeing improvements daily and hoping for more
Will I get any more upgrades ( amp)? Likely not. I can't justify spending another grand for sound!

Maybe would use the $ for an oled tv upgrade

be careful with that amp. If your came with standard or hifi speakers, the amp can easily kill those. H&K speakers should survive this more powerful AMP

Understand any subwoofer upgrade using the stock location will be limited by the physical space. Deeper base comes from a larger diameter speaker with more throw. I purchased the Bavsound Ghost subs, and the bass is tighter, and hits harder, especially at higher volumes, but it does not go much (if any) lower.

Was it just coding that you did to get that sound profile loaded? Mind sharing how you did it?

Bavsound is the ideal option. Just make sure to adjust your equalizer once you get them.

The simplest way is with BimmerCode and a Bluetooth/wifi adapter - it's in the basic/foolproof settings section now too (rather than forcing you to dive into the "expert mode")

Nope, DME lock doesn’t make a difference - mines a 2021 too

I was considering Focals for my 2018 540i, but the pros who did my stereo upgrade recommended Steg BM 45II C driven by Match UP8 DSP. I have been using them for a year now and they are a world from the stock subs. Can not compare to HK / Focals as I never listened to these.

Did you get a solid answer or direction?

I have (2) 10" CompQ subs I wanna install in my trunk to get some legit base going..... The HK interior speakers are very crystal clear and sound great so I have no plans to replace them. I just want my chest thumping bass back. I have 2 small kicker amps 1 for each woofer. I have a 2021 so I have the 48V system and my main concern being will the woofers fuck up the batteries. I cant find if the main battery is AGM or not, and the hybrid battery I was told by the dealer it is a sealed Lithium unit. If that's the case I can replace stock main battery with a good AGM and then I wont have to worry about the 2nd battery.

Edit: Really I just want to leave all stock HK speakers and subs in the car alone but add 2 amps in the trunk for my 2 kicker subs.
