Doubtful, it's all bonded brittle plastic, very hard to break apart.

I just bought one left tail light on my own and installed it for this.

As tempting as coding out the bulb check is, I don't believe it's a fix. It would then never warn if it truly burned out/cracked solder, etc.

Maybe I should cut my original tail light and look at the LED circuits? It seems too nice to break.
Sewell, Grapevine... If you need my SA's info let me know, and I'll offer you his contact info. Supposedly all BMW dealerships are aware of this from BMW NA.

Well, there goes my plan to offer retrofit PCBs for the tails, lol.

I went ahead and checked http://bmw-rp.com/production/bmw/rei...bmw_portal.nsf

and sure enough! It's covered.

I'm going to submit a reimbursement for what I had spent on the taillight.

Not at all!

But my reason was to see how I may go about and get $220 back that I had spent on the tail light on my own!

The word choice was more intended to say: "I went ahead and checked BMW RP (at the link)" not "I went ahead and checked on what you said"

I happened to see this thread from the main page and thought I would chime in. We have a similar thread in the OG section. I can confirm that if you code the rear lights as "LED" via bimmercode or whatever tool you want to use, it will fix any errors coming up.

I find this method more of a coverup of symptoms instead of a fix. I could have coded out the bulb checks just as well.

BMW acknowledged the tail light signals have a physical fault. My take is that if it was a software / coding issue, they would have issued a service bulletin for a recoding.

Yep. The only confusing part is why they didn't rev the PCB in the light and fix the issue 4 years ago.

just FYI: after trying the BimmerCode fix several times, to no success, I finally got around to pulling both tail lights (so easy) and blowing out and bending the pins slightly to affect their contact.

result - zero errors since.

Give it a few months... then next time just give them a whack, much easier...

I’ve recently learned that FCP Euro is now carrying the LCI/M2C rear light assemblies. Yes! That means this problem is now effectively covered by FCP’s lifetime guarantee.

Left assembly:
