Yeah - my nephew has been tazed (he's a cop in NZ, and on training they drew straws for who would fire and who would take the shot - he lost big time). He said it doesn't tickle and took a bit to recover from.

There's also a good chance that the guy was under the influence of something that reduced the effect of the taser allowing him to rebound quicker.

I've been Tased - common misconception is the recovery time. It doesn't knock you out or even make you woozy after the current stops. As soon as the current stops, you're back to normal instantly. The movies make you think a quick stun to the neck will knock you out - it won't.

Few points (Ha! get it?) You don't feel the barbs hit you - the pain from the current pretty much overrides any other feelings you may have. It hurts like hell and essentially feels like a vibrating full body muscle cramp turned up to 11. The 5 second "ride" is agonizing, but after the 5 seconds you're back to normal.
Now the fun part - the barbs need to be yanked out. They are pretty much straight fish hooks with little barbs on them. They get yanked out in one quick pull and there is very little pain - that area is probably just a little numb for a minute or two. A Bandaid over each barb wound and you're good to go.

...... the flaw in your reasoning is this.... the taser fires a 5 second ride. This can be shortened by flipping the safety switch off. OR it can be lengthened. Each trigger pull is a 5 second ride, but if the trigger is pressed and held it'll run until the trigger is released. So basically if you have a run in with a taser you can probably hero your way through a 5 second ride, but after a few rides back to back you'll be toast.
