IMHO BMW should take a close look at this, along lines of Merc E class....

Meh as funky as it looks ,it will probably not make it in production - in this configuration at least.

Not a fan myself.

I quite like it, and like it or not I think all cars will be going this way as display technology will be cheaper than having multiple buttons to control functions....

Something close to that is coming soon. Have a look at this spy shot of the next Panamera which is rolling out soon. Almost virtual gauges, and touch panels in lieu of the button bank.

VW nailed it with that dash setup, and really its not unrealistic at all. Look at the Merc S and E class after all...

Is that the new Toerag interior?

What's interesting is it looks better than the latest Audi interiors.

Problem with touch panels instead of buttons is you can't use muscle memory to activate a function etc ie Sport, side cameras etc. You need to look away from the road to see you're pushing in the right place.

Perhaps not a huge deal but shows (to me) a lack of attention to cabin design and it not being driver-focussed.

I agree completely with regards to muscle memory.
For design, if I wanted that, I would buy a tesla.

Unfortunately people are wowed by the Tesla's maxi-iPad as it looks sexy. Try finding a control on it without taking your eyes off the road for 2 seconds...

I feel like Tesla had no choice but to implement autopilot in their cars - otherwise you'd never have the time to search for the air conditioner controls!

Slightly off topic, but am I the only one who sees the S class dashboard clown face in the VW?

The clown is the owner/person choosing this to be driven around in.
