Rodents snacking on my engine
First time ever having a rodent issue in one of my cars. Possibly picked them up in the airport garage where the car often is but who knows. Thankfully, car currently runs fine and there's no warning messages and I have an appointment with my local indy garage to have them do a wiring inspection and figure out what needs to be replaced. I already blew out the insulation chunks and will just wrap the chewed up wires to cover them up for now. Is there anything I should or should not be doing between now and the appointment? I'll probably park the car until then.

I'd probably drive it more instead. Heat, vibration, G-forces... critters might not like that. But a warm garage? That's asking for more trouble.
If you won't drive it, put traps in your garage and use rodent repellent spray or some people swear by these too: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K2VZNCV...p_mob_ap_share That insulation is soy based, that's why they like to chew on it. |

Thanks for the advice. I'll take the car out for a few runs that makes sense. I closely inspected all the wires I could this morning and the insulation was chewed off on a few but it totally could have been a lot worse. Will def give the ultrasonic device a try too.

It happened to me a couple years ago - the harnesses were replaced under warranty.
I use this sort of thing: https://www.amazon.com/Exterminators...zcF9hdGY&psc=1 |

Not sure where your located, but if replacing those items, try to make sure the items don’t contain soy based products as rodents love to naw on them. Here is an article on the wires from 2018, but any soy-based item can be at risk.
