Finally got round to fitting the MST Intake Kit for the G30 540i. Bought it in Nov last year but not had anytime to do it till last weekend.

There is a big improvement on noise which sounds great! The stock box and resonator absorb so much of the sound - my only regret is not doing this sooner!

*Update 01/02/22*- sound clip uploaded:

Nice Job!

Curious, Would it make a difference/sense to go from the BMS Billet Intake to this MST?

I have a video with my M4 with MST Intake; it uses a very similar filter size.
Sounds great, loud but not obnoxious.

Thank you

The reason I didn't go with the BMS one was because I didn't like the idea of it being exposed and open in the engine bay. The MST is not fully sealed but closed off enough to keep the heat away from it (in theory)

I'm not sure if they do. If you contact them, they should be able to advise...

I have the BMS intake with an FTP intake pipe. Will this fit on the FTP intake pipe, does this replace the whole intake section, or does this replace the airbox section and reuse the OEM intake piping?

You mean just the box? Not sure they sell the box by itself. Its the whole unit they sell all together.

Afe momentum gt (540i) is on sale now. It looks like a nice enclosed cai from a reputable brand. Has anyone tried it?

I ended up replacing my BMS/FTP intake setup with this one. The MST fits better, being that it is designed as one unit, whereas the BMS/FTP combo would sit the filter a little high.

The MST intake utilizes the OEM plastic intake elbow just before the turbo. The BMS intake only replaces the airbox, you will still have the intake muffler. The FTP will replace the intake muffler and plastic elbow, but retain the OEM intake box. Fitting both the BMS and FTP intake pieces together raises the intake filter a bit.

As far as sound, the BMS/FTP set up was louder. I feel that the car breathes better with the BMS/FTP set up as well, but that's my butt dyno and nothing to consider.

All in all I'm happier with the MST fitment. I just wish they made the clear heat shield for the 540 as well.

Thanks! Got the MST for mine as well. So you are saying it fits the MST intake?

I've already had the BMS filter/intake installed for a couple weeks now and getting ready to install the FTP intake pipe soon (as weather permits - monsoon season now) so looking for any hints on removal of the old intake pipe, anything to watch out for?

Also did you just remove the stock intake part with the silencer lunch box as one piece rather than taking them apart? Because I was looking at the connector from the silencer box to the intake pipe and wondering how to release it?

Also installing a CTS-turbo charge pipe so seems I might as well do both the intake and charge pipe at the same time as the charge pipe would be easier to remove/install with the intake pipe out of the way, correct?

You are right to do both at the same time since you will be in the area anyways. To release the clips for the lines running into the Turbo Inlet duct, squeeze and pull.

The intake lunch box thing will come out as one piece with the turbo inlet pipe.

After installing the FTP intake pipe along with BMS filter, your filter will be raised a bit and will contact the underhood isulation. This is normal because these parts weren't exactly made for our specific platform, just the B58.
