Assisted Driving View

Does Assisted Driving View (i.e., the active visualization of nearby vehicles in the driver's display when Assisted Driving Mode is enabled) come standard on an 2021 X7 M50i that is equipped with Driving Assistant Professional package ($1700 USD)?

My client advisor said yes, but with some hesitation, so I'd like additional confirmation.

It's definitely not on any 2019. It wasn't an option in 2019 on mine. I'm looking for a 2022 hopefully to have it.

You're right it wasn't on mine either. But it can be coded as you have DAP. I've coded mine successfully.

It's been active without coding since MY20 on the G05/G07 with DAP.

MY19 with i-step 07/2019 and later, plus DAP, can code it.

You can code it in using Bimmercode.

@ifr How challenging is it to code? I also have a 2019 X5 running 07/2020.xx software without it.

Not too challenging. You have to go into expert mode. Here is how to do it.

Go under "Instrument Cluster" Module, and click expert mode and search for below values and change them to aktiv (01)

CB_FZG_UMGEBUNG_FAS: aktiv (01)
CB_PRESELECT_NAVI_ANSICHT_FZG_UMGEBUNG: aktiv (01)
PIA_FZG_UMGEBUNG_FAS: aktiv (01)
SICHT_ABSICHT_ENABLE: aktiv (01)

Thank you. What functionality does this add? Just the new graphics in the instrument cluster, or does it add any new driver assist functions like Traffic Light Assist, etc.?

This coding gives you:
1. Assisted Driving View (ADV) with Assisted Driving active and/or
2. ADV active whether Assisted Driving is engaged or not i.e. all the time

Not everyone has been able to code all the options, but you usually have the option in i-drive to make ADV active at all time.

TLA etc cannot be coded with Bimmercode. You need esys, esysx and the coding to do that.

What is the use of this information? My 2019 didn't have it, but my 21 does. While it's entertaining that it identifies tractor trailers and I can see them in the center display, I'm not sure what seeing this does for you. I look out the window and amazingly, yep there they are.

Yes, its available with Driving Assistant Pro . You can change the view by going to iDrive CAR menu, display and select assisted view as instrument cluster display option

Would you please elaborate on this. For example...I like a feature that other car manufacturers have...you can flip the rear view mirror to a display connected to a camera...you can see the traffic behind and surrounding the car while driving at any speed. Would the Assisted Driving View accomplish something close to that? Thanks in advance.

It's just a digital representation of the cars, trucks, and motorcycles around you and is shown in the middle of the instrument display. It's not a live camera. It's basically what the car is seeing for adaptive cruise control and the lane change feature. This video shows it as well as the Assist Plus feature where it's completely hands off in traffic below 40mph.

Thank you so much. I understand it is different than the rear view mirror lcd display I was referring to. Nevertheless..it will be helpful in that department. Is there a speed limit in order for the feature you're referring to to work?

It's 2 different features.
1. With cruise control, this display will replace the map view in the instrument panel. It will show you the nearby cars. The automated lane change uses it to change lanes and if it detects a car is the next lane, that car will turn yellow and the lane change feature won't occur until that car is no longer a factor.
2. The Assist Plus feature which is shown in this video is used only below 40mph. It's for traffic situations and allows you to be completely hands off driving, as long as the camera detects your eyes. It will still monitor you to ensure you're being "alert." Normal cruise control only allows you to be hands off the wheel for 7 seconds. This feature when activated, once again below 40mph, allows you to be hands off the entire time.

Bottom line, I would just search for all of this on BMW YouTube channel if you want to know more. They walk through all the different features.
