Which Electrolyte do you drink?

Since it seems like dieting and exercising is the flavor of the month I thought I start a thread on energy drink. There's obviously many to choose from starting to your household name gatorade, powerade and vitamin water but has anyone tried Cytomax? I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was recommended by my collegue to try it. Any takers?

I find it beyond hilarious when I see people at the gym who are barely walking on the treadmill having a bottle of Gatorade on one side, and Muscle Milk on the other side. False hope that it's going to do something for them.

Just get yourself a filter for the tap to weed out the super rare cases of things like cryptosporidium getting by and you're grand.

Milk? ............no seriously it's got alot of good stuff for ya, like the lactos for energy (basically sugar) Ca+ so that your muscles work properly. Of course you probley want to drink it before or after workout. There was test where one group of football players drank milk a few hrs. bafore a game vs. energy drink, and the milk group did better....or it could all be B.S. that I heard from someone else. But it does sound reasonable to work...........other than that water

When I am cutting weight, I would much rather drink a nice cold gatorade, but Cytomax is probably better for you. I have only had the apple berry flavor, but Im never a fan of mixing stuff. I dont konw why, I guess i just like the taste of something thats already perfectly blended. haha

And I do know some guys that use it alot, and really like the effects after a hard workout.

lemon water maybe? The gym that I go to has some lemon water stations for the members, I drink some after a session. I don't feel like a god, but it's nice to know that they want you have something with electrolytes before you leave.

wouldn't say it a total gimick but the sugar in most drinks are not needed. Electrolyte itself has the ingredients that is essential to your neurons and muscles. Na,Ca,and P are important chemicals for muscle efficiency. Yes water is important for rehydrating but I'm asking about electrolytes which more revolves around a energy boost.

+1 to what Johnny said. No gimmick in gatorade, of course they could use less sugar just like everything else. The people who shouldn't drink it is people who just drink it as a drink...now that's a bad idea. Now whomever is drinking MM as a intra-workout protein shake....

And I drink over a gallon of water before I even hit the gym so a little gatorade isn't offsetting shit for me.

Good water has mineral content in it i.e. Evian and Fuji. You can always add Celtic Sea Salt to water to boost mineral/electrolytes content.

How did our ancestors survive and have energy without these "energy" drinks?

Ready to drink gatorade has high fructose corn syrup in it. It is FAR from a sports performance drink now a days.
