Don't they serve a purpose? Didn't BMW put them there for some reason besides giving us something to shred??

Also, they are made out of a flexible rubber, and are (relatively) cheap to replace, so I'm guessing they expected them to scrape against the ground. |

I replaced mine.
It's a $35-ish part from dealer. Took 4 days to arrive. With a jack and a socket (10mm if I remember) it was a 15minute job. There are about 5 screws to remove, take off the old - put on the new, replace screws. Hit a pothole in Chicago and tore off the right one today and some very minor scratches to the bumper. Left one is scraped too. Ordering replacements and euro OEM bumper. Then driving very carefully.

Scraped mine pretty hard too but not so much that they've been shredded. You guys must be driving into some pretty awkward driveways to scrape them that much or potholes like the guy above me :P

I was pretty good about keeping mine intact until I ran over a damned raccoon!

I actually kind of like having what amounts to disposable flaps under there. Contrast that with what kind of mind-loss would happen if you put a cool expensive carbon splitter under there then scraped it all up. (I live in New Orleans, so thinking I'm going to get away without some scrapage is foolish) mjc

I hacked mine to pieces to put the front lip on. They are attached to two small undertrays that can be replaced in a blink of an eye in your garage. Personally don't bother.
I have also scrapped the underside of the lip already after only two weeks. |

Need help finding part number. Can't find in official catalog
See pics attached (the broken part). I've searched both the internet and bmw online catalog to no avail. I don't even have any idea how it is called. Thank you in advance! Really appreciate any help.

i had to cut mine when i put on the mperformance lip
the bolts are 8mm heads the rubber part cuts off very easily with a box cutter/razor blade 20150709_100709 by saxonbrian2, on Flickr 20150709_100716 by saxonbrian2, on Flickr you then also have to cut the plastic part with a tool like a dremel or plastic cutters (very hard plastic so scissors wont work) 20150709_154002 by saxonbrian2, on Flickr

Ok, so how many of you are on lowered suspension? I was planning on installing the M Performance lip spoiler and splitters, but I dont want to shred that.......
I know that this is a performance car and you cant pull into driveways carelessly, but, MAN, you guys are making me nervous! |
