2021 BMW 5 Series Puddle Lights

Hello, I have a 2021 BMW M550i, and I was wondering if it has puddle lights? I have not noticed them, so if it does have it, how do I turn them on? Thanks.

Talking about the projector puddle lights? Then no. Only has the flood puddle lights. Can grab BMW OEM projectors for around 150 or grab some on amazon for 25.

From factory they have just white diffused light as under door puddle lights.

There's a guy in the members classified section that has some of the $150-$200 projectors for the G30 and selling them for $100 shipped. Got mine from him and they're great, and I love the M logo look now. Worth checking out for sure

Wow that looks great. Do you happen to have the part number? Did they fit perfectly?

You can quickly find the BMW part nbrs (then shop online if you want) using one of the online part database sites like bimmercat.com or realoem.com:

is this just a simple "snap-out, snap-ing" of the little light cover? or is it more involved?

You take the entire light module out and plug the new one in. It takes just a couple of minutes.

Yeah I saw that video too. I'll take a look under the doors to see if there is a spot to put it. I only saw the "X" light design on their website. I couldn't find the OEM ones they put in the video.

I should correct myself. They are called pathway lights. I found this photo on the X3 forum. Does anyone know if this is on the 5 Series?

That is the welcome light carpet. We have it on our 2020 330i. It came with the ambient lighting package.

I don't believe it is available on the 5 series yet.

Weird. If they currently don't have it, I doubt they ever will because it is hardware based. I'll check around the doors to see if there is a spot for it to shine from.

They'll probably be on the next generation 5 series.

Well that is very cool. Have to see if I can get that on the new 3 and if there is a retro fit kit for the X6.

Pathway lighting is a term BMW uses to describe a feature by which the headlights stay on for a set period of time and BMWs have had tis feature for a long time. The idea is to provide lighting for a path into your house. I have mine set for 30 seconds. The Welcome lights, as noted, are on the side of the car and, like Pathway Lighting, BMWs have had them for a long time. Both are on my 2019 540xi. --Bob

If you are talking about these lights which are projected on the ground, that is the welcome light carpet.
I have also heard it called "BMW lighted carpet".

The projector is under the car towards the front of the front doors.

Yup that's it. Don't think it's available on the 5 series.
