Tires on CPO M550
Hi everybody.
I bought my CPO 2018 M550 in January, with ca. 33000 miles. I have put on about 1500 miles (a big part of that was going to and from dealers getting a leak fixed). I have the Pilot Sport 3 tires. I just got back from my tire shop (had them install some wheel locks and check the condition of the tires). Three tires gauged at 6/32, the other one was 7/32. However, they discovered that "outside edge of tires are weather checked/dry rotted." It seems that these tires should have been replaced on a CPO - or am I mistaken? I also recall the sales advisor verbally stating that he believed they would be replaced - but I see nothing in writing. I also did not get a copy of the CPO inspection report. I'm thinking of politely asking the SA if this was a mistake. Any advice? Thanks! |

You can reach out to the dealer, but they may not play ball as much since you neglected up get it in writing. Always get any agreed repairs noted on the sales order.
That being said. If there is dry rot I would reach out to Michelin. Those tires should be under warranty and the dealer should be able to get them to cover it. https://www.michelinman.com/on/deman...l-warranty.pdf |

After 3 months, it will be a struggle to get them to admit to a mistake or to do anything for you.
Best of luck.

Hi folks - I've been in contact with the sales advisor and he's being surprisingly polite. He maintains that the rear tires were replaced, yet my local tire shop gauged them at only 6/32 to the bottom of the treads (not the wear bars).
The only way that I can see for both of these facts to be true is that the dealer installed ***USED*** tires. Is this permissible under CPO standards? Seems like a pretty bad idea to me. |
