X5 to 5
Has anyone gone from a x5 to 5 and regretted it? My last two have been x5 and I'm looking to try something different. M550 or 540i? I appreciate the input.
Currently have a 2019 x5 and 2021 x7. |

I have a 2022 X5 and a 2021 M550. They replaced a 2019 X5 and 2018 540, respectively. My wife drives the X5 during the week and I do when traveling with the kids and often on the weekend.
They are both great, but very different, vehicles. The X5 is more about utility and space. The 5 series, especially the M550, is just a different animal entirely. Both are excellent vehicles. If we were a one car household without kids, it would be the 5. With kids, we’d need the X5. |

The X5 is more flexible overall (coming from an F15 40e), but the sedan is more fun. Having one of each is the best of both worlds. I have an X3 b/c it's easier to park in busy parking lots [Costco has entered the chat]. I wish I had an X5 though, as it's more spacious and comfortable.
I got the M550i as my retirement cross country road trip car. I plan on driving interesting roads as much as possible. More fun in an M550i than X5, though it wouldn't suck in an X5. If you can afford it, keep one of each.
