This is very nicely priced. Compared to the outgoing F10, it's practically the same price, but with upgraded tech and design.

If you car goes into production before that, you don't get any wheels. The dealer will sell you concrete blocks to hold it up in your driveway until your wheels arrive.

Looks like I just found the replacement for my X5M. The only bad news is I have to be patient and wait at least until end of summer so I can get those 20in M wheels. Was thinking about going tame with a 540...until this one became a little more real.

ummm...missing a key option

dont see 4 zone AC . maybe a hidden priority one option?

In my F10 this was an option, and I can say that my back seat passengers, although infrequent , find this very useful..

I don't think I went too crazy.

Going to wait for this one to be in production a while before I pull the trigger.

Nervous after what happened with the F'10 V8.

I'm still not sure if the 540 isn't really the sweet spot for G30? And I love BMW V8's too having owned E39 540, X6 50i and E92 M3.

Most performance metrics? What do you mean? The current M5 runs the quarter in upper 11s and can trap 122-124mph.....not to mention its suspension and handling setup. The new 550xi will trap above 124 and corner better then the current M5?
Yes, that's what he is saying. I don't think it'll be faster. Probably somewhat close though. It's still 100 horsepower shy of the m5 so yeah.

Based upon other M Performasnce cars like this in the BMW lineup, the rates should be the same as the 540i X which is great.

BMW did this to compete with the Audi S variants and MB equivalent. The M cars compete the Audi RS variants.

Yeah I understand the comparison with the S series Audi (not the RS series)....I was simply questioning someone else's post regarding the new M550xi beating the current M5 in most performance metrics. Simply put, the new 550xi will be heavier and down about 100 hp on the current M5....not going to outperform the current M5.

With a properly tuned AWD system.. I think it can put down better cornering traction when the M5 has traction control kicking in to prevent a spin due to only 2 wheels creating power instead of 4? Now it can compete with the GTR.

Especially on those 1st gear corners like after the hair pin at Monza or the final corners of Spa. The M550xi should be a beast in autocross because you can power down all the time. Your only down side would be not being able to do a rolling burn out and drifting unless it could be optioned through the iDrive, pulling a fuse, or coding RWD at will.

It's also probably safer to go fast with all the aids on if it's properly designed.

Like if he had FWD power to prevent this rotation because I think the car would be going forward more enough that the back end couldn't kick out but I'm not 100% sure.

I kind of had an oversteer situations with DSC OFF on the 750xi under power at the traffic light turning left 90 degrees when it was very slightly wet with clear skies but I kind of changed the "tune" because I had 20mm spacers in rear and 15mm in front. Also my tire pressures weren't really correct which resulted in that happening. I also have I think -1.8 camber in rear and 0.0 in front with 0.0 toe-in/out. With a proper tune xDrive should be an advantage vs RWD only.

Agreed on the comparison to the S6, and the M550 is down on hp compared to the current M5. But I doubt very much it's heavier. The 540 xDrive weighs just over 4000 pounds, so the M550 should weigh-in around 4250 - 4300 pounds. That's 100 -150 pounds less than the F10 M5.

I asked for
36/10
no cap cost, just bank fee, first months, DMV up front
7 MSD's
MSRP 83K
$1090.00 (he said Sale price is 83K, no discount at this time)

Too high for me right now. Im going to wait until the sale price drops and/or RV rises.

The B58 engine in the 540i should be much more reliable and durable than the N63 in the M550i. The M550i is pretty much a lease-only car due to the engine...
