2020 540i M Sport Black Sapphire

Just snagged it a few days ago. It wasn't a custom order like my last X3 so it's not quite the spec I want, but it was close enough.

The 20" wheels with the M Sport suspension (no DHP) is still surprisingly refined, but I will be getting some 18" wheels + non-run-flats asap to give me some more cushion.

Impressions so far:
- Love the engine. It's definitely a step up in power and refinement from my X3 35i. I just wish I could hear more of it from inside.
- Interior is reasonably quiet. Some tire roar from the 20s, but that should be fixable. Some wind noise too, which I wasn't expecting in this class. But very tolerable.
- Love the seats. BMW seats just fit me right.
- The new navigation UI sucks. It's a big step down from my 2017 X3. It's cluttered, and when split screen is enabled, the map becomes so tiny due to the middle menu bar that can't be hidden. The highlighted route is white (used to be green I think), and it's not visually distinguished enough from other roads so you can't just quickly glance at the map to see what the next few turns are.
- I coded off the legal disclaimer at startup but there's still a silly screen at startup that just says "Welcome". I have no idea why I have to go through that.
- The auto-start-stop system now starts the engine when the car in front of you starts moving. Pretty slick.
- My rear seats don't fold down, and I think I can't remove the headrests? I can't slide them up enough for the posts to clear the slots.
- The same silly seatbelt buckle rattle from my X3 is still there. I've already put some felt tape on the buckle to prevent it from rattling against the pillar. They must only do rattle testing with a passenger belted in

No regrets overall. What an amazing car.

A few comments:

Are you sure you don't have folding rear seats? 40/20/40 split folding rear seats are standard on the MY2020 G30 for all trims so your car absolutely should have this.

A shame on the maps. I love them.

OMG thanks for the tip! I didn't realize the switches for those are in the trunk. I was expecting them to be in the passenger area.

Congrats. I have the same, in a 2019 edition, and it is a great car despite the few compromises. Enjoy!
