For those without surround-view, do your ...

radar sensors pick up curbs? Mine don’t, and as parking aids, they’re pretty useless! Agree, or have different experience?

My car beeps as the front bumper gets closer to the curb, the obstacle is eventually marked red and the cameras also flip to show the top view of the curb and the front bumper.

In short, I find it very helpful.

I am pretty sure its the car's ultrasonic proximity sensors which are picking up the curb not the actual radar which is used for driver's assistance.

I’m sorry I didn’t explain myself well. What I meant in my OP was regarding parallel parking, where you try to get both front and rear wheels near the curb. It was a big mistake to omit selecting the side cameras, but I’m trying to see if the radar sensors can help in parking. Paranoid about the beautiful wheels!

S6F np, I assumed you were referring to perpendicular parking, nose first

Anyways, I honestly cannot recall if the sensors beep when I parallel park to the curb. Just because I cannot recall I am going to say they most likely don't, given the curb is normal height of course. If there's a tree there or a fire hydrant they will beep. That's a different story though...

Now, the actual 360 cameras will show the side of the car getting closer to the curb and you can click the side camera icon (or spin the car via gesture control) to see how close you are to the curb.

In this particular scenario I prefer to rely on the tilting mirror, albeit the mirror only tilts on the passenger's side.

I hope that somehow helps answer your question...

Generally speaking, in this case you’d want to grab tires with a good rim guard built into them. The Goodyear’s that came on my car from the factory have a decent rim guard so you’d find it hard to damage the wheels even if you get close to the curb.

Sadly, I still curbed them, but that was due to me ending up going down a street that was so narrow my wheels didn’t even fit!

No.

In addition, the green lines on my 2017 G30 do not quite align with the kerbs - they are 'pessimistic' so there is always more space than you think ...

It was not an issue on my F10. I think it is probably a 'factor of safety' margin they've added for self-parking aids.

And the offside mirror dips too much for me when reversing (shows the area near the front passenger door, not the rear wheel). This is something that can be coded, I think, but never got around to doing.

Just my opinion

Mine clearly shows orange "danger zones" as I approach curbs, which turn red if I get too close. I've learned that orange is close enough. I find the 360 view invaluable when parking for both the curb view and to see the lines of the parking space, to make sure I'm in the middle. What a great tech device!
