Very Good!!

What about the HUD and Gauge Cluster, does the AA Google Maps work with those?

Did you get Caring Car/Experience Modes in the update too, or is this stuff still left out?

I recently had my car into service last week and I think they did a software update. I did have a problem with the iDrive knob.

How can I tell if I have the July update? Does anyone know the official version number?

When I go to BMW's Software Update site and enter my VIN it says I have the latest software.

Just took my car to the local dealer here in LA and they said the update had not been released yet. They checked with the area rep and they confirmed it was not available for the 5 series. (I have a 2020 M550i)

Anyone had any luck?

My advice is to wait to make sure there are no 🐜

Ha, I take your point, but that's not how I roll. I am an early adopter and am used to bugs. Really want Android Auto.

It is available and has been updated to by at least 1 person on the forum.

The understanding is the dealer needs to update their system to the latest ISTA 4.24.13.21290 otherwise they won't see the update. Some dealers are slower to update that system to my understanding.

Thanks, I will confirm with them tomorrow as they still have the car.

2020 M550i with Android Auto

Just got this working on my car...
2020 (09/19 build) M550i
You need I-Level at least 20-07-525 (20-07-530 is current) So yes, they will need ISTA 4.24.x.
The update must be done at a dealer that syncs FASTA data with BMW.
Then you manually need to update online services (by pushing option in the apps menu screen)
Then it should be good to go.

Just had the car at BMW for the last 4 days. After much discussion they confirmed they had the latest 4.24.x software, which I verified with my own eyes.

I still cannot get AA to work in my 2020 M550i.

Here is a screen shot of their system plugged into my car.
Only thing that looks odd is that my ISTA No. for my car is 4.20.x even though their software on the laptop is 4.24.x

That looks like you have the update installed already?

Are you sure your Android phone supports Wireless Android Auto?

I have a Pixel 4XL which is up to date, I also tried with a cable and got nothing. Android Auto works fine in all other cars I try my phone with.

Google notes you'd need to have Android 10 or higher installed & the Android Auto App installed to get it to work.

Yes, I use Android Auto regularly in my wife's car, one of the reasons I am so keen to get it working in the BM.

Pixel 4's ship with Android 10 so it'd be impossible to not be running it.

I'm sure you already verified this but you're connected to the car's internal WiFi, right?

Yes, I'm connected to the cars WiFi. Tried removing the device from the car and readding it. Also, the cable should by pass the WiFi anyway.

Did you run "update apps and services? " When on the apps menu, hit option button and then update apps and services.

I-Level is not the same as ISTA version.
ISTA is the software application for all BMW's
I-Level is the specific group of firmware for a specific model.

See the release notes for ISTA 4.24.1x attached - on page 4 you can see all the current I-Levels for the different model lines.

So the programming data 4.20.x as shown in the screenshot is different to the ISTA level of 4.24.x of the software on the laptop?

I can see that my car seems to have the latest software, but still no joy getting AA running.

For anyone who has AA running, is there anywhere on idrive that it mentions AA? If I go to apps it shows Car Play in the left hand menu.

Yes, it will appear right under Car Play, regardless if your phone is on/wifi etc.. (so ignore all those comments)
See attached ... And you did the update services, right? (also attached)
(There is a discussion of if the car needs to sleep after updating services.)

Thank you!
That is what I assumed, but I get nothing. Odd thing is, the moment my phone connects to the cars WiFi the Android auto notification comes on the phone and says searching for android auto.

Wonder how to put it to sleep.
