Closing Trunk.... lid button only?

Is the only trunk (boot) closure available, the button on lid?

I thought I could push pull the driver door button or remote button 2x and it would close?

Maybe it was a dream.... I was parked with snow bank behind car and was stretching across trunk opening to reach bitton from driver side.

Note to designers... put buttons on driver side of trunk lid please
(you’re welcome)

Thanks

I have a button to open and close the trunk by the fuel lid release button. Opens with one quick press; to close, it requires me to hold the button down until it closes.

You can code the inside button to open/close. You can also code the remote button to open/close. Why this isn't standard is beyond me...

Mine has a button on the drivers door that I have to pull upward (and hold) to close. The trunk button you mentioned, I can use the comfort access "kick motion" to close...And I used BimmerCode to program my remote to close by holding the trunk release button for 3s.

Don't have a fuel door release button? it's a simple push mechanism on the fuel door itself in the US (at least on the 2017). The fuel door Auto locks when the car is locked.

On the PHEV (530e) there is a fuel door release button in front of the trunk release button. This button must be used before refueling to depressurize the fuel tank. The pressurized fuel tank keeps the fuel fresher for a much longer period due to the potential for longer fuel storage in the tank in the 530e.

You can close it by using the button on the trunk lid. One press of button will close the trunk.

Alternatively you can close the trunk with the button on driver door (pull and wait) or remote control (push and wait). These are standard features in my 2017 G30 (Turkey). If these don't exist they can be coded as long as you have a button on the trunk lid to close it (which means you have an electric powered trunk lid). Manual trunks don't have this feature and it can not be coded.

Finally, you can code the car to get rid of holding requirement for both driver door and remote control buttons. So 1 press will be enough to close the trunk. For driver door button you can adjust press function to both open and close (instead of pushing to close)

Exactly... to Bimmerlink or BimmerCode I go... I guess.

And I didn't realize the e model has a fuel door button.
From my old days with the 530e, if I understand it correctly, pressing the fuel door button prepares the tank for fueling. I'm not sure if it somehow disconnects the electric system to prevent any unintended sparks, but it's certainly very annoying.

Many times I got out, went around the car and then realized I didn't press the button. Then I walk back around, open door, press button, once again close door, walk back around to the fuel door to be able to press and open it...

the fuel lid button on hybrid models releases the vacuum from the pressurized fuel tank (referred as "aerating"); it doesn't open the fuel filler door. a message will display on the instrument cluster when refueling is possible. The fuel filler door won't open until it's ready. (this action still requires the manual push-to-open from the outside.)

I tested this last night on my car (a 2021). I haven't coded anything. I can close an open trunk with the button on the inside of the car. It just gives warning beeps and starts closing. The key fob cannot be used to closed the trunk no matter how long I hold it. It just tries to unlock/release. Seems like something that requires coding to do with the key fob unless there is a special sequence.

closing trunk via key fob isn't standard (coding is necessary).
closing trunk via driver side button is standard (one of my favorite features).

FYI, neither of these methods works on my 2019 M550i. And, no, I am not interested in coding. The only way to close my trunk is the button on the trunk lid.

Don't forget awkward pressing it down and closing by hand against all the resistance!

You've got to code for the remote close to work. It's really simple on the standard BimmerCode menus. No "advanced" coding needed.

Works fine on my 2019 M550i. The button on the driver door has always worked (you need to pull it up and hold it to close the trunk). And i coded the key FOB (Bimmercode) to enable closing the trunk.

Not on mine. You can hold it up all day, and the trunk does not close.

It would be interesting to know the differences in option packages between the two cars.

BMW software engineers are ROLMAO at the thought of how they are Trunk Lid Gods. Changing the car codes for FUN. I have Exec Package... so I would expect it to auto close with some remote or interior button feature.

I should not have to press a mechanical button at the rear of car while driving through liquor store. (Gasp).
