I was following him and he made several M550 videos, then suddenly 'poof' he's gone from Youtube and FB for a year now. Here's one of his vids where he does several 100mph + runs. And he is from FL too. Last edited by HerkHealer; 01-19-2022 at 10:54 AM.. |

Given the current times. I hope he's alright. COVID has also taken a lot of us. I really hope that hasn't played a role and hope he's doing well.

Actually, I had been thinking for several months that I should just stop doing this, as I found myself in triple digits often in my M550, while passing left lane campers. Interestingly, having purchsed an EV, initially without my garage being able to charge it, I was conserving energy like crazy, and driving the speed limits. You know what? I like it, it is much less stressful, and much more enjoyable. I will miss M Track Days at COTA, though......oh yes!!!

I'm honestly torn on this.
On one hand, speeding without capability (be it vehicle or operator, or both) is dangerous to oneself and those around. No denying that. On the other hand, forfeiture and seemingly draconian speeding laws seem like an overreach. (at least that's my feeling every time I see news of some speeder being caught in British Columbia...) Especially when vehicles have the capability to attain high speeds - that makes it feel even more weird. But I wouldn't want that capability stripped away either. Like I said, torn (and frayed)... EDIT: that dingus was posting videos of high speed runs? Isn't that self-incriminating in a way? "and here, you see me on the grassy knoll taking the shot..." Or is there some 'hey I got permission from local law enforcement to do this in this area, they are watching' etc disclaimer? |

Although posting the videos likely is enough to get you fined and or more the police generally aren't interested unless you build up enough complaints or more to end up on their radar... All that said... I'm not a fan of speed laws unless done well. I think they do more harm than good personally. There is serious risk to driving recklessly. By that I mean driving severely outside of the normal flow of traffic weaving in and out of lanes or tailgating, among other things. Speed in and of itself isn't a problem. But driving slower than the flow of traffic, blocking the passing lane, etc can create serious road hazards. |

Agree 100% with everything you said, for both countries.
Recently, and far too often, I've seen some nutsack on I95 or elsewhere weaving in and out of traffic recklessly. |

What bugs me is that it's usually some jagbag in a 1993 Dodge Caravan or some other shitbox doing the dangerous speeding, weaving in and out of traffic in a car that should've been crushed 10 years ago.
The other day I was cruising quite comfortably at around 75/80 on Lake shore drive in Chicago when some retard in a clapped out early 2000's 535 BMW comes flying up behind me. I floored it, dusted him and quickly hit about 115mph to kinda show him that there's levels to this shit, but the dude just wouldn't give up! As I got off at my exit and this chooch was having to lock up his brakes to avoid slamming into slower traffic. I sometimes wonder what's going through these people's heads…

Here in the sunshine state, a lot of jeeps and pickup trucks are doing their version of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.
Up north in Canada, it'd be tricked out Honda Civics etc. My guess is the Dunning-Kruger effect - people think they are better drivers than everyone else, for whatever reason (I'm guilty of that too...), possibly something to do with the hustle and bustle of daily life and the security offered by a small enclosed box that is a vehicle, and other stuff that's above my paygrade |

Once I saw the idiot was still trying to keep up I backed off and moved over. Not sure how much you drive in the city, but the average speed limit on the Dan Ryan is well over 100mph most days.

I'm not a speedster and here in Texas they don't play. "Don't Mess with Texas" slogan is real. I did some spirited driving when I got my M550i last year but it was on some back roads. After seeing an M6 hurdle into an intersection and hit a homeless person, I made it a point to do the right thing and not speed. I will say this car is like the red devil on your shoulder whispering to go crazy on the road. Sometimes I push the pedal but don't go overkill.

As Schumacher flys past me while I'm doing 40 I thought to myself, "either he's really dumb or has snow tires that are worth twice the value of his car".
