Coding 12V Socket to power with car
Is there a way on the G30 to code the 12V cig lighter behind the cup holders to go off and on with the car?
I have a radar detector i would like the power to come from this and go on/off with the car |

How do they work now? They just always stay on no matter what?

I'm pretty sure the cig lighter powers off 2-3 minutes after car turns off. Might be different timing based on whether you lock doors.... Check that.

I guess the other option is a mirror tap up top and get rid of all the wires. |

Here's another wiring option, basically the procedure I followed for my Blackvue DR750S 2CH: https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1457675
I made a custom wire (longer than what came with the camera) for the rear camera and ran it under the floorboards to avoid interfering with air bags. |

Go to fuse block number 50 with a fuse tap. The fuse box is located on the passenger side kick panel and is very easy to get to.. if you run a direct wire, just make sure to route it behind the airbag in the A pillar. |

Posted this in another thread. The directions in the link are excellent; I was able to simply tuck the tap cord under the moldings without removing them.
VirtualGuitars is right. I did that using a fuse tap bought on Amazon with a 10 ft. cord (https://www.amazon.com/Detector-Hard...gateway&sr=8-1 -- about $25) and followed the excellent directions supplied here: http://www.eyephysics.com/BMWG30/bmwg30.html. I did not have to remove any interior body panels to run the cord. It just tucked in under the panels. I used a plastic trim tool to help. When plugged into the unused fuse slot #F59 that I used (located at the end of the fuse block), the detector stays on a while after you shut down as it is wired to a time delay relay. It comes on again when you open the door. --Bob
