Just got the car back. The SA explained to me that the bottom actuator was jammed and they were able to replace it with a new part. The shutters are shut now.

Good day to all of you! My first post, new here .

I just had some software update and now, the active grill (which was not working for a year) is doing an open/close sequence each time I lock or unlock the car. Even if it is the trunk being open, same thing.

Is this normal? At the service they said no, but I find other post, so not sure if if it is, and do not want to go again at the shop...

Thanks.

Mine is a 530d and is doing the same thing: shutters remain open after stoping the car. However, if I unlock the car a few minutes later, they will close.
They also open almost immediatly after starting the engine, even if it's cold.
I'm pointing to some kind of temperature sensor or software error...
Your thoughts on that?
Thank you.

Last update: had to replace the lower shutter. Working fine, now.

Exactly the same solution for me.

Hope they didn't charge you? They charged me and I complained to BMW CA as it's a 10 year item 120k in most counties and they refunded me. I was just outside of warranty.

Yes sounds like a small motor running and rubber touching rubber as they move open on my 2017 model. Not loud but you can hear it when outside the car.

Someone on the forums did remove them and left just the motor but I believe it can't be reversed if you follow his guidance without a brand new grill.
