The first recall notices were sent to some people a few weeks ago. I got my email today. I'm blasting this bullshit out on telluride forum if you want to check it out. The recall bulletin is bullshit. It only mentions "valve springs". It does not mention the other parts needing changed or that the entire engine will be replaced. I've never seen anything like it.

I just looked I have July/2023 built date. I already had a shitty experience in the service department so I couldn’t fathom doing something like this. I would just sell the car, fuck that.

Kia picked up so much goodwill and probably market share with the Telluride, the last couple years. This is going to be a hit. I know people, like y’all, that were driving much more upscale branded cars and bought Tellurides. Probably others are currently seeing that and thinking about it. When this comes out, they’ll lose the potential of those that have been on the fence and will probably lose some that they’d picked up from higher end or longer tenured players. I feel like Telluride and Pallisade were really shaking up the segment. I’m guessing some of those buyers will be right back to Lexus, BMW, etc.

I had a Lexus IS300 years ago. Actually bought it off a LPGA player in Pheonix.
Cannot remember her name though.
That thing NEVER had a problem in the 6 years I owned it.
I've expressed my concerns and demand a new Telluride versus all this bullshit.
We shall see how they respond.

Side note - I’m really interested to see how the new Lexus and Toyota powertrains hold up. Bullet proof and longevity are their biggest value adds. Kind of average in some other respects, relative to peers. But a great price point and low maintenance. It does seem their tech and creature comforts are stepping up with their new gen cars.

That just sounds like a brand showing its colors. KIA has picked up some new customers, like I said, but they don’t know how the service those customers. I’m guessing this is especially true at the dealer level. Not saying they aren’t nice or polite or know what they’re doing. But it’s been a value brand. A company that is, at heart, a value brand is going to service like one. None of that is a slight or meant to be shit talking. I’m just not surprised to hear your description of their response.

Definitely bad PR on top of bad PR. I’ve considered the Telliuride for 4-5 years now purely because of the look and the value. You get a lot for your money. Everyone has talked me out of it because of engine reliability issues at relatively low miles.

I’ve been following Mark’s purchase because I think it’s an all new engine or an LCI or something. It’s half the price of the X5 I just bought with more options.

The way KIA dealers treated Stinger customers should have been a wake-up call for corporate to step in and make some strict demands about the sales and service experience, but the Telluride came out right in the middle of the COVID car sales explosion and dealers didn't need to adjust their shitty attitudes. Now it's coming back to bite them.

I didn’t read everything here, but caught the tail end and it doesn’t sound good.

Holy shit man, you have the worst luck… knowing your previous issue with BMW service. If they were to put a new engine in, they would drag it across every side panel and over the roof of the car first before they installed it, scratching everything on the car. Then they would test drive it, blowing the engine in the process, then tow it back to your house.

Sorry that you’re going through this bullshit. You buy something new so you don’t have to deal with this kind of crap.

My girlfriend's daughter just had ACL surgery a few weeks ago, they prescribed her 70 oxy's! Told her to take two every four hours for the first 3-4 days after. I told her she was going to be a subject of a 20/20 on how kids got hooked and moved onto Heroine. She stopped after 5 days. I've got something like 35 left I can bring.

ACL surgery is BRUTAL. My wife had it last year. Surgery last May and just got back to tennis in the last month. Gotta do the rehab!

Yeah, I had no idea. I kind of thought you were up on your feet right after. It's incredibly painful for 3-4 days after the procedure. So much so, the post op nurse was like - do not let the Oxy's wear off or you will be in agony. My girlfriend literally woke her up in the middle of the night to take the meds.

Lot's of PT. Gymnastics accident.

Yep. Same deal here for the first week. Then she went all Tylenol. I had to help her move around, in/out of shower, etc. for 2-3 weeks.

Definitely seems like one where the younger and better in shape you are, the bigger difference it makes.

Way different than a knee replacement surgery and recovery.
