G30 540 with MPPSK and resonator delete??
I have a G30 540 with MPPSK exhaust. I am researching a midpipe replacement to remove the resonators. Is there anyone on the forum that has MPPSK and a resonator delete? Thoughts or opinions?

I saw a video on YouTube where a "kid" who's a genius for BMW simply put straight pipes in place of the resonators for $160 on his M550i 2018.

It’s not a mppsk if you have resonators
M performance exhaust is not mppsk I have mppsk 440 with the same motor and it’s night and day - I have no resonators Snap crackle pop!! |

G30 MPPSK is different than yours, only the rear silencer is replaced.

My G30 MPPSK also has a torque converter installed as part of the system. Is that true of all MPPSK's regardless of car? Just curious.

I was not really comfortable changing the torque converter on a brand new car but went with the kit anyway.

And you need to buy exhaust tips and rear bunper trim seperately. At least it was so two years ago, maybe it's all included in the kit now. You can also get MPE which is just the rear silencer. Need to buy the tips and bumper trim along with it.

I haven't done it yet but I plan on doing it soon. It can be done for less than $200 and it can be reversed if I don't like it.

Hi all,
I had the MPPSK installed on my 540i last month and it's a little quieter than I was hoping for. Has anybody deleted the resonator in conjunction with the MPPSK yet? Keen to get some feedback and understand if much cruising drone will be introduced. Cheers! J |

It will sound like this without the resonators:
I have no drone in Comfort - in sport and sport plus when the valves open its loud and pops like crazy. |

There is no drone. However REMUS keeps functionality of original exhaust with clamp in exhaust so I can close it while in comfort and open when in SPORT if droning on highway. But even when fully open it is not droning. I have seen people complaining of MPPSK being too quiet lately (updated version)

On the 5 they leave the resonators for what ever reason but for the 3 and 4 series they are removed .

No good reason on the 540 - same motor... MPPSK system...
Probably because it is VERY loud compared - I suspect it would be "too loud" for the 5 series crowd... See my video up top - its louder now that I have about 10k more miles than when I took that video -- much much louder actually. I love it. When in comfort its virtually stock sounding. With the JB4 it pops like crazy - which I dont like much. |

Had it booked in to get it done but never actually got round to it as the guy who came recommended was a 2.5 hour round trip. Would still like to do it I think but just can’t find the time so will probably have to leave it.

I finally found time to attempt to have a resonator delete done today but I backed out after seeing the underneath my car and talking with the owner of an exhaust shop. By no means am I an exhaust expert so I just relied on common sense and the advice of a business owner I have trusted for exhaust work in the past. The stock pipe going into and out of the resonator is 3.5 inches and oval shaped with hard bend inward after the resonator. To be able to accommodate the oval shape and hard bend in the pipe the replacement piece of pipe must be 3 inches and then built up to the stock oval pipe at 3.5 inches. You can see the step-down process I am trying to explain in the pictures below I took from previous posts of other forum members. Yes, I wanted to achieve at louder sound, which this delete will do, but I don’t want to restrict the exhaust flow down to the 3 inch pipe replacement. Again, I am not an exhaust expert, but when the exhaust shop owner says “I will do it for you if you want me to, but I wouldn’t do it to my car” I take notice. Also keep in mind this is a $60 modification not a $xxxx exhaust fabrication. Take it for what it’s worth.
