You could just carbon wrap the wing mirror. Cheaper, easily reversible and does not increase insurance premiums.

It looks good.
But I am not sure if it will pass with real carbon fiber fans.

I might be wrong but I believe the oem carbon fibre mirror caps are carbon reinforced plastic rather than pure carbon fibre. Is the main reason for installing the carbon fibre mirrors not aesthetic?

It is mainly aesthetic.
What I said is based on what I heard from CF fanatic end users on CF vinyl wrap.
Don't shoot me for it.

Even BMW has CF looks finish (not real CF) on some of their parts.

Ya you can't compare the vinyl/wrap with an actual CF part in terms of cosmetic appeal. The actual part IMO looks way better. And the other user who said 'wait what' was likely referring to your comment about increased insurance premium because of the CF mirror.

Well my insurance premium was increased by almost 20% when I installed oem carbon spoiler and 20" wheels on my G30 whilst the same insurer declared that I did not have to pay extra for wrapping the wing mirrors and spoilers of my other car

What!

I paid 5% extra insurance for the full M Performance kit - front, rear, sides & spoiler

Maybe it’s your location but I’ve never insured my mods and doubt many here do. First I’ve heard of it.

Yeah precisely- never heard cosmetic parts effecting that let alone someone insuring them in the first place but could be a regional thing as in the states that wouldnt be the case..

On topic though I think if some gloss carbon fiber vinyl of decent quality can pass if done well. Id dhave taken off the cap first to do so. Who cares about cf fanatics anyhow, as long as you like it. At least with lips, diffusers, etc they actually make a visual difference.

I’m reluctant to tell anyone to waste that money on something they already have basically. Outside of this forum I will bet good money no ones going to comment on them.

Its a UK thing. We have to declare all modifications (even cosmetic) to the insurance company or in the event of an accident they can (at the very least) refuse to pay to replace your mods.

I wouldn't bother for CF mirrors alone, but a full CF M performance kit? You better believe I'm adding it to the policy. Those CF front splitters will crack easily in an impact and I'm not looking to pay for another one out of pocket as well as the excess on the insurance to repair the car itself.

Th insurers have the right not to honour any claims on your car if any modification is not declared to them in the UK. The CF mirror might make the car to be more attractive to thieves and therefore the car more likely to be stolen etc. Any modification including inscriptions, change of colour, tinting , changing of body kits etc are expected to be declared to the insurer. This is not to talk of modifications such as change of wheel size and MPPSK that affect performance. This has been discussed to death in a lot of motoring forums in the UK.

That’s insane. Wow. Never knew, thanks for the insight. I guess I’d never mod my car if lived there.

I believe is the changing of wheels from 18" rim to 20" that accounts for most of the increase and my NCB is not that great either (lost my NCB when I didn't drive for more than 2 yrs).

By the way who is your insurer if you do not mind. Mine is LV
