Cheap but good spacers?

I've tried searching, I really have. Whose G30 spacers are good quality and yet cheap? I'd probably want 12/20 or 12/18 but I am looking to save a few pennies if I can. Any suggestions would be welcome!

If they're good quality there likely not cheap and if I'm putting something on between my hubs and wheels I don't want cheap stuff.

I have used Eibach which have been faultless on my last two cars, Bimmec are also supposed to be good.

You could look at these (In UK but may ship)... https://www.taperpro.co.uk/wheel-spacers These are around £210 all in inc bolts +Ship

They also manufacture wheel bolts, I've used them and they have ben fine.

This is another engineering lot in UK again they may ship..... https://www.pcdparts.co.uk/kit-build...&wheelType=104 These work out at £115.50 for a full set inc bolts +ship

Thank you. Do you have any direct experience with the PCD folks, or at least reliable hearsay?
Even with transatlantic shipping, they seem quite reasonable.

I'm not sure what 12/20 or 12/18 means. Maybe that's a Euro thing? In the US, we just measure them by their thickness, eg 10mm, 20mm, or even 1/2" or 1".

Personally, I'd say this depends on which kind of spacer you're talking about. If it's a thin spacer the relies on the installed studs/bolts, then there probably isn't much to worry about, in regard to price vs quality. The spacer isn't really doing any work in that scenario

If it's a thicker one that bolts onto your hub, and then the wheel bolts onto the spacer... Well, I'd be inclined to pay a little more for those.

Dunno if Turner Motorsport ships to you but I like them for this sort of thing. Not sure how their prices compare to others but it's hard to ignore recommendations from one of the larger IMSA race teams, here in the US.

Think you'll find that he means 12 front / 20 rear or 12 front / 18 rear

Personally I don't have, sorry. But I believe, Junebug85 had used them in his 540i build thread, perhaps he could advise if you PM him?

I've used PCD Parts a few times and also recommended them to a few people, too.
I have a set of their 12mm spacers and 15mm spacers too. I also have their extended 40mm wheel bolts and I had their 90mm studs from them for when I had a stud conversion kit.

They are a UK engineering company that manufacturer their produxts in house using the best materials. I can't say a bad word about them. Really happy with their products, prices and service.

I highly recommend them to all.

I just fitted 12/18 to my m550i with Dinan springs and the fit is spot on. 20mm rear might be possible but would possibly cause rubbing/clunk based on other members' experiences.

Cheap spacers can potentially cause vibrations if they are not true.
Spacers and longer bolts are not worth trying to save $40 or $50 in my opinion.

Just go to ECS Tuning, they sell spacers (various brands) with the bolts for discounted package price. I prefer H&R, but they have their own private label that appear to be of high quality and a friend of mine is using them with no issues.

Thanks. Do you have an opinion about the Burger ones? Their other stuff seems decent.

I am with others, don't cheap out on spacers, it is like cheaping out on brakes. Spacers are perfectly safe and will not cause issues, IF you don't cheap out.

Honestly, what are we talking about here? A full Dinan set up with lugs on all four corners is like $230 bucks. What are you looking to save, a $100 bucks for some Chinese crap?

Thanks for the input, everyone.

To be clear, the Burger ones I mentioned were one of the offerings from ECS.

If I would go for it, I'm not sure which sizes I'd get. I have 664's (19 inch). It seems the 20-inch folks go for something like 12 and 17 or 20mm. Does anyone using spacers have 19 inch wheels? I like the 20 inch styles but my roads are too ragged for them!

It is really dependant on what wheel you have in terms of what size spacers will get you flush.

Take a string and painters tape it to the top of the fender wheel arch up front and to the rear quarter panel arch out back. Tie a bolt on the other end and let it hang down. Measure from the sidewall to the string with a ruler. There you go.

I doubt it would make any difference to 19" or 20" what size and the look on the car, as it is the overall diameter you will be seeing. Your wheels will be 1" smaller but then your tyres will be circa 1" bigger due to the different profiles.
Say 245x40x19 (678.6mm dia) compared to 245x35x20 (679.5mm dia) very similar overall.

When I spoke to AC Schnitzer (UK) they were suggesting 10mm front & 15mm rear which in relating back to their wheel sizes and offsets would give a similar positioning to the arches.

Maybe this helps ? but I'm sure that someone will post up their sizes / pics for you.

Joe, that sounds tempting but I'm not sure it is consistent with the engineering practices at BMW AG. The string line would not be perfectly vertical because your proposal ignores the anisotropic mass distribution of the bolt. LOL!

I appropriately engineered the project by using a coin pinched in a paper clip, for greater symmetry. With my winter wheels/tires, it came out to 10 and 13mm. I collected data from both sides, of course!

Nice and (funny too)! But is the goal for the winter wheels to be flush or the summer? I assume different wheels?

The main purpose would be for the summers (664's). Perhaps I'll need to re-measure once those go back on.
