CarPlay on Head Up display?

BMW announced that CarPlay will be integrated with the head up display for 2021 models. I wonder if 2020 M550i model will get it via update, since it has iDrive 7. Does anyone know?

No one knows, except BMWAG. Two things, 1) MY20 G30 cars do not support full iDrive7. 2) it's rare that BMW backports features to previous MY cars.

So, wait and see what happens. You'll have to take your car in for an iStep upgrade later this year because MY20 G30 doesn't support Remote software upgrade. However it is possible you'll be able to unlock this feature via coding after your car iStep is upgraded post July 2020.

Has BMW announced second screen support for iOS (CarPlay)? Care to share the link.

There is no confirmation on how things will shake up for MY2020. But we'll find out soon either way...

Currently, MY2020 doesn't support RSU which is looking like it could potentially be a hamper for this. It is possible RSU will be added with an update to add AA, but BMW won't confirm one way or the other. Some foreign BMW sites suggest it won't be added.

If you're buying I'd say hold off or buy a MY2021 depending on timing and desire for the features. Otherwise, if you have a MY2020 then you're marooned on the island with me and waiting to see where this journey ends.

I'm still deciding what to buy, I think I will wait to see. Thanks!

Hopefully it will be possible to code it to older vehicles after it has been released, I really miss that function in the instrument cluster!
