Transmission/TC problem? Oil change interval?

Hey everyone,
I have a question for chasing a vibration issue.

What happens is; the car (530i xdrive) vibrates as I shift it in D and not moving, my foot on brake. In addition I feel vibration during launch moment, just letting of the brake and creeping. It only occurs at first movement and totally disappears in motion, no problems in shifting.

It likes the vibration happening in a manual transmission when you don’t give enough gas during releasing the clutch.

Can it be torque converter or transmission?
Car is 74000 miles, no oil change in tranny. Do you recommend?

Any explanation/help is appreciated.

Most likely transfer case issue;

Happens all the time apparently, it’s enough that your front and back tyres have some difference in depth to get out of specs and this causes the TC to break due to rotation speed difference.

I need mine replaced, same symptoms as you describe.

My indy shop sees them all the time, they have setup a repair deal to avoid buying new TC (about 50% of new price)

Hi, I could not get it clearly; what exactly you mean with “ front and back tyres have some difference in depth to get out of specs”? I mean, the car is in D but foot on brake, not moving when this vibration occurs, no speed.

Not quite; that can make things worse but fact remains, if your tires diameters are not equal, you’ll get this issue staggered or square.

You can look up transfer case issues in this forum that should come up with all the info you need
