M550i Instrument Cluster Coding

Greetings everyone! Does anybody know how to code the digital speedometer to show 200MPH/330KMH? I personally don't like Alpina version of coding from Bimmercode. I found a guy on IG who has done it on his car, but he doesn't respond either my DMs or any comment on his page. TIA

Check out the Bimmercode G30 cheat sheet at https://www.bimmercode.app/cars/g30/. Look under "Display Options Instrument Cluster" for your type of Instrument Cluster Control Unit (DKOMBI2 or DKOMBI4.)

I looked 100 times before and wasn't able to locate it until now. Thank you. Much appreciated!

Once you've coded it, could you send a photo of what the 200 mph speedometer looks like? I'd be interested in seeing that.

I just coded mine to 200mph, but I used ProTool, it is a "Popular" menu item in ProTool, kind of like Simple mode for Bimmercode. It was literally one click.

I too do not like the Alpina display. Just too much blue going on.

Bimmercode-> first coding the Cluster to standard (ALPINA to Original )
then:
-> Instrument cluster → (DKOMBI2)
→ expert mode
→ 3000 display_configuration
→ MPA_ENABLE → to active

Run your VIN, if you have the 6WB cluster it will be listed. If you don't have it, this ain't gonna work for you.

Interesting that the redline on your 2018 M550i is 7000 RPM, but the redline on my 2020 M550i is 6000. Does anybody know why it was reduced?

I've just tried reverting from alpina to original and I don't see option to revert, it says something along the lines 'use backup to restore original option'. What am I missing here?

You probably have to use the backup to get the original display. Try that (using the backup) and see what happens.

I don't think Bimmercode has any effect on the car's basic programming.

YMMV.

I've swapped back and forth between Alpina and normal with Bimmercode just from the menu. I do see this message in Bimmercode when you disable ASD as it tell you the only way to enable it is to restore.

Sorry what is ASD? If you mean active sound, I do not have such option. I've also disabled seatbelt reminders previously and noticed that for that I also don't have the option to reactivate.

I believe they're referring to BMW Active Sound Design (the speaker based engine sound supplement)

I meant Active Sound Design and was just using it as a reference to coding that is not reversible without a restore.
