Ultimate care VS Platinum ESC VS 3rd party warranty

Hey everyone, I would like expert opinion on this, if not clear explanation, if anyone has the time.

I bought a 21 550 non CPO with 40k miles. And I am torn between what to get.

I do know that I have one year of factory warranty left, but I essentially want to invest in something that covers both maintenance and repairs for the car if possible.

I have looked at multiple third-party warranties like route 66 and fidelity. But I am a bit confused as to whether they also cover routine maintenance, which I believe the third-party does not cover. I do not know whether platinum which I believe the third-party does not cover. I do not know whether platinum from bmw covers both maintenance and warranty.

I have a year to honestly think about it but I feel that this needs to be done as soon as possible. I plan on driving the car at least 6-8k miles a year and want to keep it for a foreseeable future.

Any information or opinion in the matter, would be highly appreciated

I just purchased Route 66 for my 2020 M550 with 14,600 miles for $2700 for 7yrs / 120k miles that does NOT include "routine maintenance" coverage.

And Route 66 lets you choose any BMW repair/maintenance shop which will be much less than Dealerships. Consider that.

BMW ESC doesn’t cover maintenance. You need BMW Ultimate Care+ for that.

You aren’t eligible unless some level of Ultimate Care+ was purchased before the standard 3Y/36K mile coverage expired. But you can check your existing coverage via BMW website or asking a dealership.

Christine @ Steve Thomas BMW is a good resource.

Maintenance contracts are separate from warranty contracts. The maintenance "plus" contracts that BMW offers are actually a decent deal "if" you think you are going to blow through brakes quickly and frequently. That's the big ticket item in terms of maintenance and the only way to "win" is to have more brake jobs than they account for in their pricing model. Beyond that, fluids and flushes are pretty cheap even at the dealer, I would not pay in advance for these via a contract. Keep your money in the bank and earn 5%+.

I was a CPO/BMW sold warranty guy that did not want any hassle of the third party, but I have taken a chance on Route 66. It covers more for more years and it was too cheap to pass up.
