Did I make the right decision?

So I bought my 2007 335i for 23k, paying about 470 a month on it. No warranty. I am just seeing so many horror stories about the car having so many problems, if I figure I will be spending over a grand a year to keep it up (and that's if I'm lucky) this car is really gonna cost me. I mean with repairs I am probably gonna be averaging a 600+ car payment a month.

I did jump on this car quick without researching, and now I am wondering if I made a mistake. I mean I could have bought something like Mustang gt, certified, for the same price with a warranty and without all the problems that the 335i seems to have. If I was to sell my 2007 bmw 335i with 38k miles in great condition, what kind of money am I looking at?

I don't know...

I would feel very much at ease if the car just had the warranty I guess...

You made a big mistake:-) the 2007 is the most problem prone year for the 335i.

That's a big monthly payment for a car that's 6-7 years old.

I've seen 2007 335s going for 15-25, depends on condition, mileage, etc. yours sounds like it's be at the top if that range.

I'd sell and get something newer. Mustang GT doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. Good luck OP!

Yeah I mean I got it for 23k which was a good deal but I financed it at 8 percent so it came out to about 470 a month. I kind of wish I would have waited and did some more research before jumping on it like I did...ugh

Hmm maybe I can't get what I think I can for it then. How much do you pay a year do you think on average for maintenance?

Just bought my car 4 months ago... Don't worry about it man... you bought the car and if it doesn't have problems why are you worrying? Every car has problems, every car cost money to fix... I would worry about 3 things... valve cover gasket, injectors and anything turbo related. Other then that, this is one of the best engines you can buy.

You're not going to get $25k for it. I'm fairly certain the sale price for the car is public record (someone check me on this) which means someone will have to knowingly pay you $2k more than what you paid for it.

And even if that's not the case, nobody's going to pay anything above what something like KBB says, for example. KBB is like best case scenario.

Probably around $1000 on average for non-scheduled maintenance (i.e. when things break).

I guess you are right, I suppose I'm just over thinking this. How do I know about the valve cover gasket and injectors if they are bad?

1000 a year isn't bad actually, I m more worried I would be dumping thousands in it a year...

OP, no disrespect... but seriously, you cant buy a nearly 8 year old BMW and expect 5 more years of trouble free service. That just does not happen....

Bought my 2008 335i in Jan 2012.
CPO, 47K miles and I paid ~$23K.

Almost identical to my situation. No CPO but bought extended warranty which has already paid for itself.

OP, it sounds like you def didn't do your research... 07 also didn't have oil coolers which can be problematic.

When I saw what you thought you could sell it for I had to make sure this thread wasn't a year old or something. Just hope for the best a d enjoy it for what it is!

Yes yes I know, I am just worried this car is going to cost me thousands of dollars a year to maintain. A grand or 1500 a year I am okay with...but anything more I would be in big trouble.

How in the world do you come up with this number? $200/month on repairs, every month?
