I'll take it to BMW. And take a bunch of pics of the car before I take it in. That way if they damage it, I got proof

Yes, I have had the same issue. It would come on for several days, then stop for a week or two, then come on again for several days. It was going on for a few months so I had the dealer look at it at the next service. They replaced the emergency battery and that solved the issue.

My 530i was just out of warranty, the dealer charged me $250 for diagnostic to tell me the TCB battery was bad, and wanted another $460 to replace it. Said the head liner needed to be removed, hence the high labor charge. I said no thanks, paid the $250 and drove home. Took me 10 minutes to remove the battery. Ordered a new one.
I'll need to reset the fault code, how do I do that? What device should I buy, etc. Interesting observation: The tech had the battery out to test it. He also reinstalled it so I could pick the car up. All included in the $250 for diagnostic...and the labor was completed same as for replacing the battery with a new one. I would have been willing to pay their list price for the battery plus the $250, but to pay another $460 was too much to take. Now I'll pay for a diagnostic tool and be able to do oil changes, etc. myself to save taking it to an independent shop. Well, that's the plan. Edit: Still waiting on the battery to arrive, but the fault warning on the dash went away. I'll wait till it gives a fault again before I change it. Interesting that it cleared the fault without being reset. Last edited by migrant; 09-23-2022 at 09:56 PM.. |

I believe water got into my antenna and now I have that warning. It wont go away. I bought the battery first for $100 and changed it, but error still there and my navigation isnt working due to it. Looks like im in water. Out of warranty so ill have to come out of pocket for the fix unfortunately.
Had my roof and antenna wrapped a year ago and I'm guessing the seal opened somewhere and let water in. |

I saw many youtube showing the solution to the "Emergency call system not available" error message is to replace the battery. As I have Bimmercode app and the OBD connector, I didn't have to waste the unneccesary money and time to fix this. Thanks to a youtube comment from @MinimumBeat who solved the problem by using expert mode coding below in Bimmercode app. I followed the simple steps and it worked for my 2019 G30 within 5 mins. If you don't have Bimmercode app and the OBD connector, it is worth spending the money to get them as you can unlock the other features in your G30 which BMW has hidden and it will cost you alot of money if you want BMW to unlock them for you. Expert mode might sound daunting but if you follow the few step by step coding, it is very easy and safe. Have fun with Bimmercode!!
