Question What comes with a new car (keys books tools etc), LCI?

Curious what all comes with a car new as I've seen different things about what BMW provides over the years (display keys etc). Getting a car used comes with some variance based on what seller has.
Apologies in advance for a possibly dumb question as the last BMW I bought is an e39 and imagine things may have changed quite a bit

So for those of you that bought new:
How many keys and types of keys did you get?
Is there still a paper car guide folder and such in the glovebox?
Does the trunk still have basic tools, or is that option based(RFT vs spare)?
Other random accessories?

It will vary by model year, but the car should come with two keys irrespective of new or used.

Display key was an optional accessory for the M550i. It isn’t amazing.

It was aimed at remote parking which is no longer offered on the LCI nor is the Display Key.

My car came with a printed manual, but it wasn’t anything special. The manual on the phone is much more useful.

Yes I thought that for LCI they got rid of the display key and then just were doing 2 normal keys or 1 and 1 card or something. Then not sure if they continued with valet keys or the like. With no physical ignition I figured they did not.

Tools and the like maybe are a thing of the past too?

Yeh I display key with my 2023 but that’s no loss
There is also a credit card style digital I’d that you can use to unlock the car.
My dealer advised against it for security reasons but didn’t elaborate on that
There is a manual aswell
Car comes with a first aid kit
Locking wheel nut aswell , don’t recall there being any tools

  1. No 1st aid kit in the US market.
  2. If it came with run flat tires…then all you get is the tow eye/hook…maybe a screwdriver (my F chassis models had the screwdriver…G chassis may or may not)
  3. Should have at least TWO remotes…may have digital key capability depending on model year and/or digital key card if PO turns it over and reseller doesn’t lose it.
  4. Owners manual still comes in the glovebox in paper back version…BUT…there’s also a digital version that is VIN specific built into iDrive (owners that don’t check it out really miss out because there are multiple ways to search plus there are a bunch of embedded videos that are interesting and neat to watch)…then there’s also digital/PDF versions that are downloadable to a device/devices of your choosing from BMW website.

Example of iDrive7 owners manual & approx 20 embedded videos (which can be found under USER HELP):

Tools are gone these days. A likely reason for BMW introducing run-flats across the line.

Cost savings, at our cost. Perhaps a McKinsey consultant's proposal.

Are there tow hooks? My manual says there should be one in the trunk, driver's side in the cubby, but that's just a hole in mine.

I can understand no jack or tools, but a tow hook seems pretty basic to be missing.

Towhook: I looked briefly as my car arrived today. Same situation. A hole but maybe there's a trick. Need to look again and at the bumper for the tow hook square to pop out.

Looked again towhook is there

Got the paper manual. Agree the digital version is available and handy
2 regular keys and that's it.
Digital key available and have seen first aid kits but only on some orders as an option

Likely going to swap away from RFT to non, and grab a can of tire goop to stash in the trunk with a compressor. AAA as backup

Actually using the credit card key is more secure than the other key. A few cars here have been stolen by recording the car key while you lock your car, which is impossible with the nfc credit card.

Ah interesting

Does anyone here actually use it over the 2 normal keys? Certainly removes the concern about being near the car band the relay attack stuff

I wonder why my dealer advised against it?

I’m wondering ie whether I should enable it and see what it’s like

Garage List
US car..2023 MY M550i

Dealer I used was great as they added in the following dealer options:

OEM trunk tool kit…has many different tools and sockets in it.
OEM first aid kit….in black leather case.
Oil filter cap wrench at my request.
OEM locking wheel nuts.

The factory did have a very small socket fitting in a small pouch.
Two key fobs
Towhook
