More camber in front for G30 and limited slip diff.

Hi all,

I just wanted to share with you what I have discovered today. I want to improve as much as possible my g30 540i and I was suprised to see that the camber in front is almost neutral. I looked to see if there are any camber plate option for almost nothing for our G30. It is even worse for 2 wheel drive since most of the G30 with more that 300hp engine are sold on xdrive now.

I looked to see what I could find on the G15 840i and good suprise, the front camber is around -1.20°. I need to replace some parts on the front axle but I am sure that like it did it for my ex e92 335i with M3 arms, it will worse it.

Another thing that I did found is that the 840i can have a LSD but it seems that it is an active one and don't know yet if a retrofit is possible but I would love to have that on the car.

The front camber is not adjustable as it is, you need to replace parts. With mild lowering, I got -1.2 degrees. You can get -0.5 more by buying the oem camber upper control arms (part 31126870026, an upgrade for all 5 series and 8 series), so potentially u can get -1.7 degrees or more if you lower more than me.
As for LSD, I only know the quaife LSD which has a better design than the M LSDs.

Thank you.

Had no idea that you get a better camber by lowering the car. By how much mm, you got lowered your car?

I will use the G15 upper arms since the 0026 are much more expensive.

I'm not sure how much mm I'm lowered because I'm using coilovers which I've set to the medium height. It is a little taller than the h&r springs I had before. I also worry that the standard g15 upper control arm might not give you more camber than you already have. The standard g15 probably has other parts or lowered height that give it more camber than the standard g30 since the part I linked is supposed to add an equal -0.5 to both the g30 and g15.

I just took a look on G15 alignment specs and G15 has -1.30. The 3 arms are differents so it could be a the result of the 3 different parts.
