Yellow car service light on dash
I got this warning this morning. It says service brake fluid soon.
My car is a 2019 540 x drive with and 45k. Is this something that should be done at a dealer or is an Indy ok. I’m out of warranty. What’s the proper spec on the brake fluid for my car ? Can an Indy reset tbe service light ? |

Thanks very much. I’ll talk to a local Indy. What is the correct price for this service and correct brake fluid ? I see dot 4 recommending for this car online. Anything else I need to know ?

My 2019 540i with 40k miles, also out of warranty, is due for brake fluid service as well. My local indy shop quoted about $150-170. I’ll be getting oil change as well. Btw, service interval for brake fluid is 3 years for the factory fluid then every 2 years thereafter.

Interestingly my Indy is crazy busy and said Brake fluid would be 150.
Could not take me for about 2 weeks. Dealer. 85 bucks and I get a loaner for the day. Booked it. Quote:

Wow. that's a great deal. Something is amiss. Hopefully you got that in writing.

One thing I've noticed in the last year or so from both dealer service and indy shops is that they quote you a price for the specific service then when the bill comes there are extras, like shop supplies, thrown on top. It's not a big number, maybe $25-30, but a bit aggravating all the same. Just add that into the cost of the service and stop nickel and diming me.
