BMW G30 530e 2017 backseat crackling sounds

My BMW 530e has noise coming from the backseats. At first I thought that the iso-fix child seat made the noises, but with the seat removed i can hear the backseat creating sounds.

I have the 17" winter wheels mounted on the car, the car should be more comfortable but I do not remember if the sounds where with the 19" summer wheels or not.

I tried to register the sound but it is very hard to do that. It might be because of the electric driving and I've developed something against the sounds, but my question is: Does anybody else have issues with backseat sounds on their G30?

Is it like a micro switch clicking? Like a computer mouse being clicked.

Not OP but i have the same thing, exactly how you described it, happens at random time when driving, never happens during stop. Perhaps you know what causes it?

I suspect it's either the emergency call battery area behind the head liner under the external Ariel or a top mount in the rear shocks.

I tried adjusting the liner etc but can't seem to figure out where it's from so possibly the top mount or the rear shocks.

Haven't had a chance to drive while I'm in the back and someone else drives.

It's also totally random but not when at standstill.

Thanks for all your responses. It is not like a mouse click, it's like the car is too tight or excessively stiff, don't know exactly how to describe and there is no room for movement for the rear backseat. I believe I didn't had this sounds before, but I might be wrong. Tomorrow I'm going to remove the parts that do not need tools and drive the car to see if the issue is still there.

Yes, it is a good ideea to ask someone to drive and going to backseat and test that, maybe I will do this too. Will get back to you as soon as I have the tests done.

Sounds often play tricks on our ears so I’ll post this as a long shot, because I found a noise from an unexpected place. I found that the rails of the seat headrests can make a noise over bumps when they rub against their housing. I was able to replicate it by shoving the headrests back and forth. The solution was to raise the headrests, and wipe the railings with a rag with a drop of lube on it. In my case I thought the noise was coming from way back, but it was actually just the driver’s seat headrest. I wiped all the railings just in case. Just a touch of lube was enough to get rid of the stiction noise.

So I discovered what the issue was by accident on my car with a weird computer mouse micro switch clicking noise from the rear.

I had exhaust tip finishers on the car to make them gloss black and one fell off.

No more clicking.

It was coming from the exhaust tips so check there even if you don't have finishers installed.

Very strange that is sounds like a click in the cabin.

Now painting the original exhaust tips gloss black
Instead.

Hi,

Did you establish what the issue was? I’m getting a similar issue from the rear of the car when I have passengers in the back. No issues when driving on motor ways at higher speeds but really noticeable at slow speeds when turning and going over bumps.

Thanks

Hi,
Any idea or discovery about this mouse clicking like noise from back seat area?
It is clear that the origin of the noise is in cabin I think, so what could be the source?
Any help is appreciated.

Bad spot weld under the rear window speaker parcel shelf is the likely cause. A few people had this myself included. There is steel supports underneath it, climb into the trunk and have a look at the spot welds. Use a screw driver or plastic wedge to check around each weld likely one is broken and loose stuff with felt or something to stop it.
