Brake Pads for 520i?
Need to change out front and rear pads on my 520i M-Sport (standard, not upgraded M-Sport type).
I am getting a local independent to do the work, but their quote seems cheap at £76 and £48 for the pad alone. My question is what brand of pads should I specify? I think the BMW OEM brand is Brembo, any recommendations |

My recommendation? Go to FCP Euro or ECS Tuning (even if you're not buying from them given you're in Scotland), but if you enter the part numbers for the pads, both sites will show you which brands are OEM.
Normally BMW uses either Textar, Pagid and ATE pads. I would rate Brembo a bit lower (their QC has gone down in recent times) and then there is Jurid, but out of the OEM brands that's probably the worst. Some aftermarket pads like Akebono are pretty good too, so don't be afraid to go with a reputable aftermarket brand. They usually have less initial bite but also less dust. EDIT: Original for a 520i appear to be Jurid: |

Recognizing that you are in the UK, why not consider pads from EBC or Brembo? The former, as I understand is a British company with a good reputation. I would suggest ceramic pads as they produce less dusk and are easier on rotors (the expensive part of a brake job).
