Nope. The muffler has unique internal design for GTS. I have a M4 with full MPE and I swapped the Active mid pipe between the GTS and M4. They sound nothing alike. I am sure a big part of the sound difference is also from the GTS engine tuning differences as well.

p.s. I though I read somewhere that Akrapovic helped BMW create the MPE.

Then you can do this without guilt as you are not removing a "GTS" part per se.

I am running this on my GTS with factory downpipes. On my M4 I had this and Active Autowerke swain coated downpipes, no cats.

That was a rumor early on because the M5 MPE was made by Akra, but it was later confirmed to be un-founded. The M3/4 MPE was entirely developed internally at BMW.

It's made by Prototechnik, which belongs to Eberspächer Group.

Which doesn't make complete sense to me because once the valves open, which is when your most likely to hear the exhaust, they are both strait pipes with h-pipe in the middle.

has anyone compared part numbers bw stock and gts downpipes?

i remember when i had my e46 m3, a few of us installed the csl cats, and it made the car raspier

edit! think i worked it out off real oem, downpipes are same, centre cats is different

zcp with m perf exhaust + gts centre cats (18307857330) = sorted i rekon

imo it's the centre cats that is giving the m4 that extra rasp, especially noticeable in this latest vid

There is something that caught my eye in the Australian CarAdvice video, it is the colour of the exhaust mid section. It has the typical orange hue that titanium gets when it heated (before getting blue). Thought?
